@ averma, Thanks you shared your story.

One truth is that averma, that these type of stories are found everywhere in every field. There are bad experiences with Hospitals and Doctors, There are worst Experiences with Builders. Even worse with lawyers...and so on.. We never stop going to Hospitals, nor do we neglect Builders or lawyers. Most of the movies we see end up in rubbish entertainment. Most of the Restaurants we visit give us bad experiences. We never stop anything averma and we can never stop others going to such places just because we had bad experience. I have had a worst experience with the most sophisticated Hospitals who messed up my relatives case and in bargain lost a huge amount of money along with the relative.

coming to the point, When IRCC has specifically said you can hire only Authorized lawyer or Immigration company, it is our responsibility to select an Agent. One of the Biggest Immigration consultants are the owners of this forum who deal with most complected cases which were never solved for years.

What we are hiring is just a few non technical emerged so called Agents and most of them have no complete knowledge of what they are doing. But this all happened in 2015 when Express Entry was not much understood by people. Now that we all know and those who enter EE knows what it is, we will see less such cases in future.

But than for those who happen to be the victim of such Agents, only they know the pains they ended up with.

Hope people be more choosy in selecting the Immigration Agents in future. But for that we have to understand the whole system ourselves. Most of the applicants do not understand the system they are entering and they just get carried away with the bright dreams showed by such Agents that you will be in Canada in a year and we also accept it and get rid of falling into details and just pay them and sit at home. We think we will pay some 2 lakhs and we will be in Canada next year. Things are not so easy as they seem to be always.

Good and bad experiences are part of everyone life. We have to be careful watchful and be more involved in what we are doing. Every Agent will prepare a packet and give it to you for cheeking it before they send. So if something happens how will you blame Agent? He will always say you also checked it twice before sending it. Remember we sign the application and not the Agent so it is our duty to check the whole set.

So at this stage what we can curse is our own fate and the short cut we ourselves plan sometimes ends up in a mess. you yourself had a bad experience with an Agent still you hired Y-Axis. And believe me Y-Axis will be there doing the same thing for years to come. They also have a good track record to show. otherwise money makers are always there in every field and we have to be careful always.

I really hope we don't end up fighting again.( although that was fun :p)
But I have been in this game long enough and from the get go I have had problems with agents.
The problem is that they are too lazy to look into new rules and changes.
And so are we.

Here's the thing.. Most of us very well educated professional with good command on English.
What stops us from doing our own homework and research. If someone wants to pays to agents all good.
At the end of the day its a personal decision.

But I am sure even you would agree that you can't compare doctors with agents. teachers with well.. say lawyers.
Some professions have better reputations while other don't.
And respect and reputations are gained for a reason...

That's all

Simply put, if you hire a representative who is a licensed member of ICCRC, it is likely that this won't happen. I don't mean to say that ICCRC licensed consultants are "perfect" in the literal meaning of the word, the chances of things going wrong is significantly less. They can be held accountable - You can report them to the council. People who are not licensed have the luxury of getting away with the most serious of blunders.

I hope these things don't happen to people. Good luck and all the very best - Hope we sail through the rough seas at the earliest!

Guess what guys. I just checked the tracking number of this email and found that package was sent back on 27th Jul and it was delivered to my agent on 31st july. And they say they have not received it.

I am now thinking about the efficiency of this agent (ICCRC) CANT BELIEVE. I am going to defame them on all social media
So sorry to hear that...
The exact same thing happened to me in 2014 (pre-express-entry era). My application returned and I didn't informed, the agent sent the package back but it was too late as the NOC quota had reached before my app gets to be reviewed!

I was feeling like you back then, forgot about Canada for some times, but then found about OINP. I know all of us are frustrated with the delays and non-transparency but the truth is OINP was (and still is as I haven't been nominated yet) a new door to me to be able to get to Canada and all I've dreamt about.

I'm sure your door will open sooner than you would think. Wish you best of luck with that. :)

BTW, I'm glad that I've trusted this forum to get help for express entry and OINP, and I would like to thank all the members for their selfless and most helpful contribution to this forum.

Wish best of luck to all.

Re averma, I am really sorry to hear your experience. Now that your representative ain't even giving you back your package is even more outrageous.

Not that it helps you in anyway, but the Government of Canada has been reminding potential PR applicants that it is NOT a requirement to hire a lawyer/representative while applying.

Since you said you have already got 3-day time off just to monitor what they were doing in person. If I were you, I would have started doing it myself. (yes, you may have paid them already; but you could have dealt with them later)

It is ultimately the applicant's responsibility to make sure the application package meets the requirement set forth by the Provincial Government/IRCC/CIC.

@bestofluck thanks for sharing your views.

I have few points to make here.

1. If I have to check the file twice before agent sends it to OINP then for what services I paid him? Please help me understand what for I paid Abhinav Outsourcings. I took 3 days off from my work which is another monetary loss. I hired them because I was short of time. What services they provide in return of 30k? All the documents was arranged by me. Letter of Explanations were written by me. OINP form was filled by me. Refference letters were arranged by me. What was their contribution?

2. Coming to Y Axis. I approached them for Australia but after the blunder made by them in the evaluation email I strictly told them that I do not want to go ahead with you guys. Now I have filled the application on my own.

3. When I signed contract with Abhinav Outsourcings it was a comtract between me and an ICCRC lawyer which is what my contract copy says. Thank god I did not pay them 75k directly and told them I would pay step by step not upfront.

People have different views. I am not saying that agents are useless but at the same time they are not providing any service which we guys cannot do on our own provided we have time to understand the requirements and the process.

@ averma. Nice discussion. I am trying to attempt an explanation.

Well when we do an important thing in life, it is always good to double check to avoid some last moment mistakes. Whether it is an Agent or a Friend it does not matter. You can get your application checked by some family member with the checklist. but it is advisable to get it double checked.

When your accountant write cheques for you and you sign, it your responsibility to check the name, amount and date filled by him before a check. this habit may sometimes save fraud.

It is not that you pay him and so he should do everything. He is responsible to prepare every application but when we are sending it to someone it is good to avoid last moment mistakes. These are part of good habit towards perfection and not a Ego issue that you paid him and so I wont do anything.

2. Coming to Y Axis. I approached them for Australia but after the blunder made by them in the evaluation email I strictly told them that I do not want to go ahead with you guys. Now I have filled the application on my own.

So far good decision

3. When I signed contract with Abhinav Outsourcings it was a comtract between me and an ICCRC lawyer which is what my contract copy says. Thank god I did not pay them 75k directly and told them I would pay step by step not upfront.

I am not aware of such contracts they are legal or not. they might be MOU. Mutual understandings.

People have different views. I am not saying that agents are useless but at the same time they are not providing any service which we guys cannot do on our own provided we have time to understand the requirements and the process.

The real work of Agent is different. He picks up each subject say like work experience. Now he will see all details you provide in the reference letter and other documents and check everything is covered which is wanted in the application. Same way he will check each document for its detailing and he should advise whether the refrance letter is okay or you need to change a bit. Some Agents give format for the same to get it from work place.
It is their responsibility to take out copies than which are readable and prepare a whole package as per check list. Now it is our responsibility to check the package. There is always chance of human error, by any human being. So it is always good to double check. Believe me not for application it is a good habit in every aspect of life. When you deal with money you count the money and give to someone. that person again recount it in front of you. now you may call it that he has no faith in you. But this is practical and accepted all over. because afterwards if there is a mistake neither he can tell you nor you will accept it was your mistake. So both have to count money in front of each other. habits are part of self made laws which help us improve the things.

@ MZASAM, I 100 % want to agree with you on this but the fact is also not to be ignored that out of 100 application rejected the ratio of applications rejected through Immigration consultants is less than self applied. Truth is bitter than fiction here.

What you say is very ideal, but the fact is while engaged in job, doing our work and daily routine how far it is practical to give our optimum? Certain things demand specialist jobs and so the fact that Immigration consultant should be avoided is just an ideal condition not a practical one.

We can avoid lawyers and fight our own case in court. But how many do this? We pay to lawyer for specialized job because it demands time and expertise.

So making a generalized statement we do not need Consultant and self help is best, sounds more ideal than practical. Instead we should say always hire an authorized Immigration lawyer by IRCC may be you pay a bit more. Try to involve yourself knowing the details of the thing and get the job completed.

We make mistakes so many times in day. Everyone makes mistakes. we are humans and so are the consultants. A few experiences here and there will not change the whole concept of hiring an consultant. I bet most of the forum member have Agents. They say it or not they have taken help of some or other Agencies. angel dint do anything wrong hiring an Agent. The same Agent might have good track of records too. The very fact that they are existing since so many years proves they are doing something good to survive.

So I repeat we can never make general statement like Doctors are not good avoid them, cooks are not good avoid them, Builders are not good....The very fact they exist among us proves the society demands them. Be practical but at the same time be cautious and take your time to study the history and past of the consultant you select. try approaching other customer of the consultant taking their views. In short we should at least do some exercise before we give a very important job of our life to someone. Instead we get carried away with fake promises given by them that you will be in Canada next year.

bestofluck: My intent was never to express, that we don't need consultant/agent/lawyer/doctor/other professionals/specialist.
Individuals can' do everything of their own. They need help, assistance, advise on many matters, occasions.
Still, I maintain my position: Self help is best unless there is a need of a consultant, agent....

Money makers are money makers be it a Doctor or a Police or a Politician or a Builder. They are shame. In fact Doctors in this category are worst because they not only make money but play with our body. :D :D agents are not that bad. If all those I named survive why not Agents.
