OHIP Eligibility

Hi all

Just seen someone's Facebook post who recently received their AOR. This is the first time I've actually seen one, and in the first paragraph of the letter, the wording was as such:

"This letter acknowledges receipt of your application for permanent residence in Canada. On [month] [day], [year] you met the eligibility requirements to apply for permanent resident status as a member of the Spouse or Common Law Partner in Canada Class. However, a final decision will not be made until all remaining requirements for becoming a permanent resident have been met."

For my own future reference, would this mean that they were now eligible for OHIP (assuming the recipient lives in Ontario)? The wording seems very similar to that found in the OHIP eligibility section of the ServiceOntario site, which says:

"You must also meet at least one of the following additional requirements. You:
[...]
• have applied for permanent residence, and Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada has confirmed that:

• you meet the eligibility requirements to apply
• you have not yet been denied"

Though I've also seen some people say that you may even need AIP to be eligible for OHIP! Does anybody have any experience with this?

You can certainly try and show your argument.. There has never been any mention of AIP exactly but that’s when people have been approved.

Hey. Just been shot down on Facebook by some people who know better than me - apparently this is in fact an AIP letter rather than AOR. I can't understand why the first sentence of AIP would be "This letter acknowledges receipt of your application for permanent residence in Canada" but hey-ho.

Can’t remember what it said before to realize if there has been a change. It definitely has been AIP for a long time and there is quite the process to get proof of AIP that some just wait because it may only save them a few weeks.
