Are you inland applicant? What is your status in Canada?
Mine is inland and I need to extend my work permit so I fill IMM 5710, the first time I send to Mississauga together with the whole sponsorship package. And then get return because of insufficient processing fee. The second time I send the forms to Edmonton since Mississauga location just accepts OWP with the sponsorship together (not a single OWP application).
However, I get my PR approval but the OWP is still in process. I am thinking can I get a refund.
I am citizen and my spouse just received student permit. So yes I will be filing inland spouse sponsorship..

I am not sure about this situation, I know that if your spouse is studying, the max work hours should be 20 hours only.
Even I am a student before, I got open work permit for Co-OP, so I can extend the open work permit.
But if your spouse is currently studying, I am not sure if the gov will approve the work permit.

I am talking about sponsoring my spouse using the inland option and getting an open work permit for her... do you know anything about this?

If you get the OWP, do you see that on ECAS or you get an email or a letter?
You can link your OWP application to your GCKey once they started to process your sponsorship application. And you can see the decision and everything there. But I don’t think you can see that on ECAS. I’m not so sure because most of us here didn’t get OWP. Now the PR comes out first. I’m going to ask for refund for OWP application later because of that.

That's what happened to me: got PR before they even started on my OWP application. I sent a note to IRCC via the webform and asked for a refund - took about two weeks to get it. Never heard back from them in any way save for the refund hitting my card. Oh, and the application status on my gckey account changed to "withdrawn".

Thanks for the experience. I haven’t started applying for refund because the conformational portal still hasn’t approved my address and photo. Did they just refund your money to the card you originally use for application, or you can choose a card for refund?

The refund process seems to work like this:

They attempt to process the refund on the same card it was paid with. If that attempt fails (expired card, closed account, etc.) they will mail a refund cheque to you.

I passed the medical examination and gave the last Biometrics on July 8, it was processed into the system. But then there is no update. Is this normal ?

Yes.

Well, it's not abnormal.

I passed my medical exam in April 2021, and the medical part of my gckey wasn't updated until after my PR was approved in late June.

Your application has most assuredly been updated, but updating of the gckey accounts seem very slow these days.

Evet.

Thank you very much
