Well, you might be in luck. Someone just posted something about overseas testing now being accepted by IRCC.

https://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/threads/may-2020-citizenship-application.686453/post-9496910

I haven't verified this claim so I can't attest to the authenticity of it. I have requested a PDF version of the email so the validity of this claim can be verified.
Thanks for your reply.
I really appreciate it. if possible could you confirm as soon as you get to know about that.
I look forward to that.
Thanks

Hi you got your Aor pretty early even I applied in October but I got my Aor sometime this year. But I’m also still waiting for the test invite. I heard last that they’re calling people very haphazardly for the testing. Just being patient and keeping my fingers crossed

I just checked my status page and now see: "You have been scheduled to take the citizenship test online. Read the invitation you will receive carefully. You need to take your online citizenship test between July 2, 2021 and July 22, 2021." The status appears to have been changed a week ago. However, I have still not received any email whatsoever! Has this been a common issue? Aren't they supposed to give decent leeway to schedule the exam before the window opens?

You'll receive an email probably a couple of days before the test.

Please post an update once you receive the test email and once after taking the test.

Good luck!

Thanks for the reply. For whatever reason, I was under the impression that we would get to choose which day in the given range would be best for us. You're saying it's entirely up to their whims which exact day it will be, and you either leave-it-or-take-it?

I think what he meant to say it whenever the start date is. You can take the test anytime and any day from 12:00AM of start day till 11:59PM of end day(don't wait till the last minute tho lol) as mentioned on your tracker or email which you would probably receive a few days before the test date.

Also, Even if you don't get the email and your tracker shows you are scheduled, you can go straight to test here.
https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/canadian-citizenship/become-canadian-citizen/citizenship-test/online.html

You have to authenticate yourself using your UCI and Application #.
Note: You won't be able to access the test until the start date as shown on your tracker.
Good luck!

Huh? What do you mean?

You can take the citizenship test on any day and at any time between the test window (start and end dates). There is no scheduling - you don't "schedule" anything before you take the test.

My previous response was to your question "However, I have still not received any email whatsoever! Has this been a common issue? Aren't they supposed to give decent leeway to schedule the exam before the window opens? ".

You have 21 days to take your test from the test start date, how much more leeway do you want?

You will have to take picture of only 1 ID for the test. So, your PR card will suffice.

https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/canadian-citizenship/become-canadian-citizen/citizenship-test/online.html

  • a piece of identification (ID), like
    • your permanent resident card (even if it’s expired), OR
    • a valid (not expired) ID with your photo and signature on it (for example, driver’s licence or health card)

Got it. The way you'd worded it originally seemed to imply that they are the ones who set the exact date. I certainly don't need more than 21 days of leeway to take it on my own time. Thanks again.
