Hi.
I am new to this forum.
Below are my application details:
Type: CEC Inland
VO: Ottawa
AOR: October 9th 2020
Medical: Passed
Biometrics: Done
Criminality: Done
Eligibility: Not started
Security: Not started

When I called CIC today, they mentioned my Info sharing is in progress. Does anyone know what it means and how long does it take?

Thank you in advance for your help :)
Did you get a GU?

@legalfalcon Is it true that Background Check only starts after eligibility is passed? Thank you

The BGC refers to criminality and security. This is why the BGC status changes twice during the processing of the application.

However, security will only initiate after eligibility is passed for most applicants.

To see how the notes look like after eligibility see #4,004

To read on security and BGC see https://bit.ly/2JPCk2g

From this link, when we order gcms notes, we should apply under privacy act or access to information act?

Please clear this doubt.

I applied under privacy act and I am an inland applicant
I applied Jan 10 and received on Feb 10. Yes, it's privacy act which is free.

Yes, I have seen about 3 cases on Canadavisa where applicant was told eligibility "not started" but when they received their notes, A11.2 was "met" on same day they were told "not started". I guess the analyst didn't update the GCMS cos its the GCMS status agents read out when you call, the agents don't dig deep into the notes.
It seems few people read or understood my post on this thread regarding the point you mentioned.

Hello,

Last time I called ircc, they said security and eligibility not started. Gcsm notes dated of December and received end of January indicated info sharing has started.
The rcmp requested was received by December 1st but not updated by ircc.

My question are :
1. Is " info sharing" separeted from criminality, security and eligibility?
2. If not, what part does it belong to?
3. Do you think criminality will be cleared once they update my rcmp? Because on my profile it is still "we are reviewing the document" or this will never be updated on profile? They received my rcmp on December 1st....that is more than 2 months... Thank you

1. Yes, info sharing is a different precessing part with itself.
2. See more detail: https://gcmsnotes.com/all-about-info-sharing/
3. If you gave your bio before it will finish soon or you will need to provide bio first.
Due to covid, it might be slower than usual. Good luck.

I gave my bio last year along with my work permit and it has been updated on my profile. I guess Ottawa is just slow. I reached the 4th month...

I ordered a few days ago new gcsm notes as for first ones, I wasn't aware they will be dated of requesting date. Hopefully with csba, it looks like notes will be dated of printing'date. Thanks.

Yes, if you order notes the notes printed date will be the same or a couple of days later than your request date.
