I called CIC today, agent mentioned decision has been taken and file approved on April 1 at Ottawa office and I should keep an eye on my email and account for the update.

Any idea how long it takes to receive PPR email after approval?[/QUOTE

It took me exactly one month

File approved Mar 4th
PPR Apr 4th

Guys, can anybody tell me the reason to call IRCC? I've read through the topic and failed to figure out if there is any connection between the information provided by IRCC agents and things that are really going on. Some people are told that some of there checks haven't been started yet and then they get PPR the next day, others are told that everything is good and then they have to wait for months.

So, the question is: is it actually reasonable to try to call IRCC, or does it just give applicants the delusion that they control the process?

You can try calling them and check with your status updates for eligibility.. and background check..but as you said .. info is not always updated at their end..

Nope, I didn't ask for GCMS notes as it takes long time to be provided. I am going to call IRCC next week... what about you ?
Mine is eligibility MET but background check not started yet.. so not hoping any PPR for me soon.. reaching 6 months in 18 days..;)

yup, but I'm just trying to understand why everybody calls IRCC and what it can actually give to a person. As per Immitracker, the chance of rejection after 100+ days is minimal, and the only thing one can do is just to wait. However, for some reason people keep calling IRCC even before 180 days expire, and then get some statuses that actually tell them nothing. I couldn't see any correlation between these formal answers and final decisions dates.

I think it depends on the agent, some agents are quite nice while others are reluctant to give info, when i had called the first time the agent told me it may take more than 6 months for me to receive ppr, but after 2 days i moved to ip2 and than things moved quickly.

I don't mean to say that there is no reason to make a call, I just try to find out if I should call.
I have only 24 days left to the 180-days deadline and feel a little bit nervous now...

Thanks!
I see. Do you think that your call pushed your application forward? I mean, what did this call actually give to you besides anxiety? :)

Nope.. no relationship at all.. that’s what my point is.. calling CIC won’t get you anything until you have crossed 6 months mark.. so no point of calling them which i also learned few months back..

You might not like my view point. But calling cic can actually give insights of the file. Like When I called they mentioned my eligibility is review required. So I have ordered gcms. And if I see some serious issues I can respond proactively.
Otherwise I have seen people telling their experiences of some minor issue and files kept on collecting dust until they ordered gcms and rectified their mistake.
I am not provoking to call cic repeatedly. But once in the blue moon could be helpful.

Called CIC on Monday and eligibility is MET but background check hasn't started yet. The agent lady told me to call again after May 21st!! This is 226 days of waiting. So frustrating.

Just hit 181 days after AOR and I'm stuck on IP1.

Right, but in that case all necessary information is contained in notes. So what is the reason of calling CIC if one can simply order notes? :)
