i landed yesterday too, in calgary international airport. there was no line-up and it went very smoothly--in fact i asked them more questions than they asked me.

So this is what I received from Port of Spain Visa Office this morning

Good day:

The police certificate for your spouse has been received.

This file is now in queue for review. Once the review is completed you/your spouse will be advised on the step(s) in processing.

Note that your spouse/you will not receive any correspondence from this office until this preliminary review is completed.

My status changed to We are processing your background check on My CIC however i checked my ECAS and i have a new line also.


We received your application for permanent residence on October 19, 2016.
We started processing your application on November 10, 2016.
Medical results have been received.

This part in bold appeared in my ECAS this morning. I receieved something on Novemeber 2nd but nothing on the 11th.

Would anyone know how i would be able to speak with anyone at the call center? Any quick hints to be able to get through to a person quickly and not sit through all the press this and press that?

What have people's experiences been with getting their license? Particularly of interest to me if you are coming from the US and/or arrived in QC. It seems that my husband will have to basically take his entire road test again? Is that correct? I was really hoping that wasn't the case...

I feel October applicants Outland most of them are not having fast process specially Outland the Ottawa office is exception as they process fast during whole year .
Hope we get something soon.

Well, my file went to a preliminary review which takes another 4-5 months before I hear anything back. They said during this period neither myself nor my husband would hear anything from their office.

How do you know your file went to preliminary review! Also how do you know it takes 4-5 months. Can you share to us what your ecas says so we can compare.

I received an e-mail from my husband Visa office on Monday saying,

Good day:

I have a friend that works for an immigration firm who said based on her experiences that's the time line. And, others on this forum mentioned 3-4 months based on their experiences.

My medical expired in March, 2017 since I used the medical that I did for some other application.

Ecas has only 2 lines updated till

Should I wait for the NDVO for the medical exam request or get it done now? Also, any idea how much time it take for DM or PPR after re-medical request?

Last week we received an email from immigration asking for some pictures related to our marriage ceremony and asked about the cohabitation period. I have sent them on Thursday. They received the documents today and they approved our application today only. We got the passport request today morning... I am so happy after seeing the email.

Overall about my spouse application: I am a Candian PR and my spouse is in India. New Delhi is our visa processing office.
