Hi everybody!
We received SA on December 15th by regular mail. Since then, we have not been able to log in to check application status with the UCI they sent us nor with the application number. It says: We were not able to identify you using the information you provided.
I haven´t received yet second AOR from Visa Office either, is this normal? Nothing we can check, we can not know if the VO has received our application, if they have started working on it or it´s still in Canada.
Anybody already received second AOR?

Congratulations :D

it is quite normal to not be able to sign into ecas for a while. i think only the sponsor will be able to sign in at first, so make sure you are inputting the sponsor's personal info, not the applicants. not all visa offices send a second AOR, so check with the thread specific to the visa office if they send one and how long it generally takes.

guys my ECAS status has still not been updated :(

it can take time for ECAS to be updated or available to view AFTER SA. For some it takes days, though there are many people who report it taking weeks to months for it to show up or update, if it does at all. ECAS certainly is not a reliable source for understanding what is going on with your file. generally, if something was updated in ECAS, it will be updated AFTER anything significant is communicated to the applicant/sponsor.

I was also curious if we will see any updates, I am able to view application received on Oct 28th as a sponsor using my UCI and using the applicants application number received in the AOR also application received Oct 28th; we got SA today.

I think you mentions that applications send to the visa office are processed on the date the application was received for the first stage; is that correct?

I would take it we wont hear back from the visa office for a while

yes, exactly. to understand how long the applicant may be waiting to hear from the visa office (if at all), then you will want to go to the thread for that visa office and see which month is currently receiving notifications about their file. the applications are batched by "received date" and processed accordingly. how long the wait is depends on the visa office.

PS. I got my SA a week after getting my AOR. Literally 6 days later. So I don't think there's a golden rule. I also think it's OK for you to be excited for it lol, as my heart paced every time I checked my email and there it was in the late evening. Good luck everyone!
I noticed we are all from different offices abroad so we def cannot hope for the same experience in Step 2. I must say things seem to have sped up so let's see.

Congrats on your SA!

And congrats to you too Drax!

After romping all over NB today, I came back to the hotel and checked my eCAS, it's showing my application was received too.

Thanks for the info.

You dont think it was a typo and they are asking for a British police check? We havent even had the sponsorship approval for my partner so why are they asking for something relating to my part of the application?

Seems very strange - anyway thank you for the reply.

Having read through everything with a fine tooth comb when we applied (Australian citizen living in the UK since 2006), we interpreted the following:
- you must submit an original police check for every country you've lived since your 18th birthday
- you must submit a complete application for both sponsor and applicants from the very beginning. I feel I read multiple places that you risk delaying your application if they need to contact you for information at a further stage

My partner is from Melbourne - Victoria state as per the CIC site requested us to send both the original police cert (which took less than 24 hours to process after applying online. It arrived in the UK before the UK police check did, applied for the same week) AND we had to submit a driver's report from as far back as he has had his license specifically for Victoria state so read the CIC website carefully.

My advice is don't ever question anything they ask you for, just do it! There is no transparency from CIC so you're not going to get into any kind of meaningful conversations with them. Hope this helps and good luck!

(PS - our application has gone without any hitch so far *knock on wood* so hope it was worth doing everything upfront despite the expense and stress for a speedy process)

congratulations to all who received sa
