We sent in our outland application and it was received on October 16, 2014. As of last Wednesday my husband has been approved as my sponsor. Now onto the next step of the process. I am really hoping that it goes quickly. I am from the USA and have seen on this forum that often times USA applications move quickly. Since CIC screwed up on our inland application and held it for over 4 months before sending it back, although what they said was missing was right there in the packet they sent back, I am really hoping this goes quickly. We have already waited a while as it is.

AOR from a overseas visa office would mean you could get a passport request in a matter of days if that office was, say, Beijing (going by the Beijing spreadsheet, it looks like about two weeks for most but just 3 to 6 days from AOR2 to PPR for some!) but Sydney apparently operates differently. Beijing is like Mississauga meaning that AOR signifies they have actually started work on your file, but it's two to four months after SA before one gets that AOR2 from Beijing. Sydney seems to be issuing AOR based not on when they started work but on when it arrived at their office, meaning it could still be a fair while before they start working on it. Again, this is just based on what the spreadsheet for the Sydney VO suggests.

Yes, exactly right. AOR2 from Sydney seems to mean just that they have received the application from Mississauga. It's still nice to get the email though...anything feels like progress.
Did you receive anything yet BrianDell??

On eCas, just noticed that Medical results have been received in the PR application section. Still no SA...

Received SA this morning, effective January 6th. I was worried but medical was received upfront gave me hope.

Glad we can move on to second step in Paris.

Are we supposed to receive AOR from overseas office? Mine is being processed in Ottawa. But I didn't know AORs are issued for the second stage.

Our first AOR (from Mississauga) had the sponsors UCI on it. The second AOR from the overseas visa office had the applicants UCI.
Is your second AOR from your visa office?

Yes it is identical to the one I received on Dec 30th except for the UCI number I have never received a SA yet
