Our application went straight to DM, without going in process...two others that I know from our Facebook group had the same.

Ours did the same. After months and months of Application Received it went straight to DM on June 2, and then 8 days later (yesterday) COPR arrived in our mail :)

So you sent in your passport unsolicited sometime prior to June 2 or in your case the applicant is from a entry visa exempt country?

Looking at the September spreadsheet it appears that "in progress" can drag on for months. The significance of the "in progress" milestone probably varies by post such that it's hard to generalize what it means.

aaaaa, decision made!
:D :D :D
no interview, no add docs request, so I hope and think it is positive one. waiting for more info now.

Yes my wife is visa exempt (USA)

Ours never went to IP. Our status just stayed at Application Received for months and months.. Then it changed to DM on June 2, and 8 days later on June 10 our COPR was in the mailbox.. We landed yesterday June 15.. We were very lucky to have everything go smoothly and not have anything lost or misplaced by CIC . Even still it's been about a 3 month longer process with the Ottawa VO than we were counting on back in Sept when we started this whole journey..

Hey guys!

So I just got an email saying that in order to continue the process this is what they need;

From Me:

FBI Clearance: If your residence period in the USA has been six months or longer since the age of 18, provide an original FBI clearance certificate.
> RPRF: Pay the Right of Permanent Residence fee.
> Proof of Relationship: Document proving your relationship with your inviter/family member: wedding photos, copy email exchanges, proof of travels (tickets, photos etc).

From my Husband :

SPR's residency: Evidence that your sponsor resides in Canada. This includes but is not limited to: pay stubs, T4 slips, utility bills, and banking history. Driver's licences, Property tax assessments, Social Insurance or Health Insurance cards are not sufficient.
> Funds, proof of funds

What do I do? Also, does this mean we are at the final stretch or should I be worried?!

As always, I appreciate any and all advice :)

Do you have your FBI report? Have you submitted one? Or are you in queue with the FBI awaiting your report to issued? If non of the above, you need to get fingerprinted and jump in queue at the FBI.

You also need to pay the $490 Right to PR fee and email Ottawa and Mississauga the receipt, after you fill it out.

It sounds like they want more proof of your marriage. So get as much together as you can, combine all into one PDF file under 5 MB and email it off to Ottawa.

As for your husband, his directions are pretty laid out for him. Is he living in Canada?

I haven't done anything with the FBI report (I didn't know you even could before they asked for it) so I'll do that asap as well as get our relationship stuff together.

Yes he lives there now and good to know, I'm just covering our butts :)

Thank you saria1!!!!!

Your welcome!

Make sure the one PDF under 5 MB rule is passed onto your husband too. Thats all stuff you can email, mail and if you want, just to cover all your bases, fax it in too. Good luck!

Unfortunately, the FBI clearance will probably add a substantial delay to your application. There is another thread regarding the FBI's timeline, but in short their background check office is approximately as slow as Ottawa: some forum members are just now receiving the report for fingerprints submitted in March. CIC does not accept record checks from so-called "FBI channelers," probably because few if any of them provide the original, ostensibly tamper-evident paper copy (only electronic copies).

This is particularly troublesome for other forum members who submitted the background check with their applications, only to have CIC lose their paperwork.

Are you serious?!?! Could I have done this when I submitted my paperwork?

Yes. Most people submit the report with their application. Or, since the FBI has been taking so long, people are submitting for their report when they initially submit their application to Mississauga. Then when they reach SA, the FBI report follows behind and then the applicant forwards the report onto Ottawa, to join their application.

Does your email indicate how long you have to submit everything? You may need to submit everything they've requested, minus the FBI report, with an email explaining you were unaware of the long processing times at the FBI and need more time. I would advise keeping Ottawa abreast of everything you're doing in emails. This way they will extend the time for you. I drove Ottawa nuts with constant emails, having them add stuff to my file as I acquired it.
