Hi Everyone,

I am an Indian & my wife is Canadian. I am in Canada right now & we got married on this Sunday. My wife is sponsoring me. But there are few questions on sponsorship application which are bothering me at the moment.

As i am a Hindu & she is Christian, so my parents didn't attend the marriage ceremony. What clarification i should give for that ?

We are in this relationship for nearly 5 months.

Which is the better process to apply - inland or outland ? For inland application process it takes nearly 6-8 months to process, am i right ?
If we apply for outland, will i get an open work permit after initial assessment of application (which is nearly 1 month time right now) ?

Your cooperation is highly appreciated in this regard.

I am freaking out. I missed out the Additional Family Members page. I have no idea how I missed putting it in to my application. So now I'm just wondering what'll happen next? Probably gonna send the whole thing back to me. :'( :(

Will be sending in our application on Friday. My husband is getting his medical done in the morning and we will be mailing everything that afternoon. So excited and nervous! Is there a thread just for USA and Canada? Just curious about timeline.

Will post my info after Friday!

You'll have to be completely honest on why your parents didn't attend the wedding. I wouldn't worry about the differences in religion it's almost 2014 and while it is a red flag, it's not a deal breaker. I'll let someone else comment on inland vs. outland. The are + and - to both methods. I know if you do outland, you'll probably not be able to come to Canada 'again' until you get your PR. But from what I understand there is no appeal process for inland so there is risk in that method as well.

Call them ASAP. Let them know you would like to send it in. Let us know what they say because I'm sure many of us have made some form of mistake that might require amending.

When I was applying for a Visa to go to Russia last Christmas, they made me send in the application from scratch again because I accidentally made a note on the application by pen and they only accept computer based input in the fields.

The note was something like : * Please see my resume attached ( at the bottom of their form ).

My app was delivered on mississauga on 11 october :)

lets wait 27 days... 8)

hi jennfwa.most likely they would return your application for lack of required document. there are instances in the past when applications are returned for failure to include necessary documents and for missing signatures. in my case missing medical document. cheer up. everything will be ok.

I'm under no illusion that that is what they'll do. I know someone who had their application returned because of a missing date. I'm more mad at myself for forgetting.

Ah well.

dont be. i share the same feeling when our application was returned. it made me sad but at the same time thankful. if they did not ask for our medical that early, i would probably up to this day find myself wondering how on earth would i submit my lacking document in such a way that it would not cause delay on my application.sometimes things dont go the way we want it to be, but i strongly believe that everything happens for a reason.cheer up.

Yes, it sucks, but guess what?you are human. Getting all those documents ready is no easy task, AT ALL, so its ok to mess up.
Whats a few days when compared to being together with your spouse for the rest of your life?! NOTHING! so cheer up, and as pretty much everything that makes us feel bad: one day you'll laugh at this :)
