Hello everyone,

I'm new on this forum, just discovered it some days ago while I was searching for info regarding the spouse sponsorship. I will be an October applicant too (hopefully), just waiting on my police clearances.

I'm not sure if this is the right thread to ask some questions, but I will go ahead and if I'm wrong, one of the moderators could direct me in the right place. I really have a lot of questions about all this, mostly doubts (not sure I'm doing it right) but I will start with just two today. Some info about me: My husband (Canadian citizen by birth) is sponsoring me. We've been married since June 2009 and been living in Germany ever since. I am Romanian. Our VO will be Vienna.

1. I've noticed a lot of you have sent the medicals together with the application. It isn't possible for me to do so, because the panel physician approved by CIC in my area (Frankfurt) requested me to have the form from the Embassy, 4 photos and my passport before I make an appointment with him. I've mentioned this in my cover letter, do you think it will have a negative impact on the application?

2. The police certificates that I need are two: one from Germany and one from Romania. When I went here in Germany to request the German one, they've advised me to apply for a European Police Clearance. Basically, there is an agreement (since April 2012) between most of the European countries, to share criminal records through a European data base. He explained that along with the German police clearance, they will give me one from my home country, which they can request based on a European Law.
Do you think CIC will accept the certificate in this form, or will they want two individual police clearances?

Thank you so much for taking the time to read this.

1. There is no form any more, the doctors office should be able to do everything for you there. Is there not another doctor you can see? Did you specify that you're applying for the Family Class? As Family sponsorship is the only one you can do upfront.

More info: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/medical/medexams-perm.asp

2. Don't apply for a European Police Clearance, the CIC website shows where you must go:

Germany - http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/security/police-cert/europe/germany.asp
Romania - http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/security/police-cert/europe/romania.asp

Hello guys,

I've sent my app on 7th october!!

@Jennfwa
Thanks for your input. I've called earlier the doctor again (after I posted my message here, cause something was fishy about the whole form thing), and specified I am applying for a spouse visa. He said I can do an upfront exam! Good news for me.

Regarding the European Police Clearance: unfortunately I've already ordered it. Should come in the mail next week. I thought it doesn't make any difference, as long as it states that I have no criminal record in any of the two countries. I might have forgotten to mention that there will be a page in German and one in Romanian, on this European police check.
Either way, my father has power of attorney to request a Romanian one for me (he called and found out they will give it to him on the same day - and he can mail it to me right away). The problem remains, since I've already applied here in Germany for the European version, if I go next week and ask for a simple German one, will they give me hell about it? German government officers are quite touchy about this :P

If I send the European one but they won't be happy with it, do you think the VO will deny my application or will they just request the proper ones?

This is nerve wrecking.

Glad you sorted things with your doctor. They will give you something to include with your application (with mine it was just a piece of paper).

I don't know if they'll give you hell (as you say) and to be honest I don't think they'd deny you either, they'd probably just delay it until you send them a German one specifically. I don't really know, maybe you could start a thread and ask other Germans what they did.

It really is nerve wrecking, I was the same. Good luck with everything :)

Thank you, good luck to you too. All of you!

How long does it take to have the medical done, do I need to go somewhere else for the x-ray? And will the doctor give me the paper on the same day?

Hi princessice. St lukes extension in the fort is the your best option. We had our medical done there and it saved us the long wait. I heard in st lukes ermita you need to be there at 3 am to line up but they starts at 7am. In st lukes the fort no long lines. Could be because the place is best accessible if you have a car but you can akways take a cab of course.

Thanks Chrislyn i'll do that ;)

It will only take 3 hours the most. I mean the whole process. After all has been done, they will give you a receipt like with your picture on it (taken there at the doctor's office) stating that you have taken the test. That you need to include in your application package. Results will be sent directly to cic.

Also on the medical it'll really depend on what the doctors office offers. Some will do everything in one place, when I did mine in Vancouver, Canada I had my examination and bloodwork done in the office and then had to go to another place (about 3 min walk away) for my X-ray. It didn't inconvenience me in any way.

It's all pretty straight forward.
