Since I am an October applicant I thought to ask this question to my OCtober comrades...

I have a daughter 3.5 years old and going to a 'Pre-School' (NOT KG) and she is Canadian by Birth... I am going to apply for my wife's citizenship in March - Do I need to send any Pre-school records to CIC - or should I say N/A for that particular section?

any advice. I know this is a hot topic... so if you have heard of this scenario, please let me know... 1) My daughter is a Canadian by Birth and 2) going to Pre-School which is NOT considered as actual School.

Thanks buds.

Excellent, Thanks Stork... Did you mention any info about him at all...at Question 6G (CIT 0002)... or did you put N/A... In my application form I did mention my daughter's info but wrote she is just 3 and does not go to school... wondering if i should do the same on my wife's application but do not want to run into trouble...

thanks for your feedback... and congratulations on seeing something on your Ecas....

Yes, we can :)
I am just new to this forum and I do not know if there is a way to get notification if someone quotes you?

According to my call to CIC today, I believe you should be able to soon check the status of your application online.
oct13, on the top of every Thread there is a link 'Notify', if you enable Notify you will get an email that someone posted something on this thread... '

PLUS, when you are 'quoting and replying to someone, like I am doing to you at the moment, click ADDITIONAL OPTIONS at the end of the message box (where you are typing) and click on 'Notify me of replies' this will notify you if someone quotes you...

I mentioned both of my children in 6G. For son who is 4yo, I wrote the name of the daycare centre he goes to in the field where they ask for "Name of institution". I didn't submit any proof that he is enrolled in a daycare, and that was fine with them too. I think if they need proof, which I doubt, they will ask for it.
For daughter, i wrote N/A since she is a baby.

Thanks my friend for the info.
I hope "our" applications do not take long to appear "in process"!

I did submit my daughter's pre-school records, although I do not believe they are needed. You never lose by doing that!

Hi Oct24, we can compare the progress of our applications from now on :)
Mine was received 3 days earlier than yours (on the 21st) and I'm from Vancouver too.
So yours appeared 'in process' but you have not received the letter yet. When did it appear in process?

my 2-cents: Yes, it depends on the processing officer but the other major factor is some of the/many of the Ecas are only updated once the local office receives the application and start processing them... hence, some offices like Winnipeg, Regina etc.. take longer time to show on Ecas... my thoughts.
I do not know why I used to think that the E-cas is done at the Central office!

Well, Ecas is updated by everyone accessing the file!

It is updated both by Sydney and by the local offices. What changed in 2012 is that Sydney used to take care of the first part ( Received...) and the local office used to update the In Process part...

today, In Process means that Sydney started processing the application and that it will be sent to the Local office once Sydney completes its initial review.

As for the date they start processing the application: It is probably because in Syndey, they sort the applications by local office...

Hay I tried today morning to see my application status but can not see anymore. I did not disabled the visibility of the same yet I do not know why I am unable to see it more. Is it a glitch in the CIC website or something else?

The CIC application status website might be down for the moment. Same thing happened to me.

Hi forum members,

When does the checking of an application by the CIC to verify if its all complete take place? Is it immediately after your application is received or at some point later...meaning your application will be somewhere on the table awaiting to be checked?AnY clues? I am worried about my situation...its almost 3 months no signs of anything.

Well, nobody knows for sure when they start exactly, signs show that they start about 1 month after receiving the application...

Don't worry about Ecas status, in my case, i'm from Montreal, it took over 3 months before it appears on Ecas, dont hesitate to call the Call center to see if they have more info about your application.
