I just did this online on ECI website after signing up and filling up the profile with EPIC number and Indian phone number. You may need an Indian phone number or email ID alone may suffice. This is something to be checked. Form 7 has some fields that need to be filled with their digital keyboard.

Once submitted, you will receive an acknowledgement.
I have my EPIC number. But dont think its linked to any phone number or email id. This was ages ago. Is it easy to link it? And how did you get the acknowledgement? was it emailed? And what did you do for ration card?

While submitting the OCI application, they don’t ask to submit the acknowledgement of Election card or ration card surrender.

They just see the mandatory declaration available in Toronto Jurisdiction checklist.

Once application submitted you can try processing the cancellations or do it in person when you next time visit India.

Just that ur election card or ration card should not be used after you give the self declaration!

As we don’t have separated individual ration card, I’ve told my father in India to remove my name from family ration card.

Hello Folks,

I was trying to submit form 7 on the Election Commission of India portal, it says that the user does not have an EPIC number to profile. When I go to the profile and try to add the EPIC number it says it is incorrect. I checked the website to see if my name was there on the electoral list and it shows the same EPIC number on my voter id card. Not sure why the profile is not accepting the same EPIC number.

Anyone has faced a similar situation or maybe I am doing something wrong.

Any help is appreciated.

Thank you.

Can you check if you have the same online profile name (first name, last name)
similar to voter id

Those of you who are struggling to link your EPIC to your profile. I was facing the same f**** problem, here is how I could finally do it:

1. Search EPIC online by using the EPIC number and city/assembly code etc.
2. Download the EPIC in PDF format. Pay attention to the name in downloaded EPIC. In my case the spelling was different from the physical EPIC I have.
3. Create a new account of non-resident voter by email id only. ( No need to give mobile number, OTP comes on email)
4. While creating this account, copy/ paste the first name and last name from the downloaded EPIC.
5. After creating this account go to profile and link EPIC number. It worked for me and I could immediately raise a request to delete the name using form7.
6. As soon as you submit online the form 7, it generates an ACK, make sure to download the PDF and keep it forever.

If you are not able to locate the soft copy of EPIC or it still doesn't work for some reason, you can do it via hard copy:

Search the BLO name of your area on the same portal, they have BLO's name and mobile number given and BLO is always a local guy. You can fill the hard copy form 7 and mail it to your family and they can give it to BLO. Only thing necessary is to get the ACK part at the bottom of form7 to be signed/stamped by BLO (That is your proof that you did what was needed) . Not sure if BLO's are given a stamp but one should ask for.

Also you parents/sibling can fill and sign hard copy form 7 for you, but it also needs to write the EPIC of the person filling the form on your behalf, which I am not sure because you never know that the guy working on your request is dumb enough to delete the other person's EPIC.

Hope it helps.

Once I create the account for Non-Resident, its asking for Indian passport details which is already canceled and surrendered. It asks for visa details of the country you are living in. I believe we are no longer non resident voter but a foreigner because we surrendered our Indian nationality. The declaration form also asks for the same, please see below

a. all information given in this application is true.

b. I am a citizen of India by birth/domicile/naturalisation.

c. I have not acquired citizenship of any other country.

I have not applied for inclusion of my name in the electoral roll of any other constituency.

For the above reasons I dont think so that we can fill up the form 6A

Any thoughts !

I was born in india. However, my parents were born in Pakistan and they migrated to India in late 80s and became citizens in 90s.

While filing the OCI form,I put yes for the question on if applicant/their parents/grand parents are from Pakistan / Bangladesh background. BLS did send my documents for pre-approval to HCI but they rejected it. However, I want to contact HCI and try to explain them once again.

Hope this answers your question.
You should have not mentioned it because when your parents were born before Indian independence and at that time there was no Pakistan. If our parents were born pre-independence and if that area is now in Pakistan, the place of birth on the passport says UNDIVIDED INDIA. Were your parents born pre partition?
