I see the status as "Surrender certificate has been granted and is available for issuance." In passport portal. Any one knows how long from now before I get the SC in hand? Applied walk-in at BLS Brampton on Aug 28th.

Looks like I got lucky... Same with OCI. OCI portal it shows date of acknowledgement the same day it got delivered to CGI Vancouver. From what I read here, I was expecting it to show up there on the OCI portal tracking after 7-10 days

It took me about 20 days to get surrender certificate.
Applied 10th August at BLS Vancouver. Was available for pickup on 31st August at a Purolator pickup store.

Hello, Filling up the OCI form and wondering what document to upload in the "INDIAN ORIGIN PROOF" and "INDIAN VISA" ? Per CGI site, Indian origin proof should be the Surrendered Indian passport (first and last page) with stamp showing ‘Cancelled on acquiring foreign citizenship.’

Not sure on the INDIAN VISA.

Thoughts anyone?

Can you please tell how long it took from the date you submitted your OCI application to the date you got OCI? I am also in Vancouver jurisdiction. I am trying to see how long it is taking nowadays if processed in Vancouver Consulate.

I am trying to figure out if it is better to apply for OCI or apply for e-visa and also for OCI to be on safer side?

It may vary but it took exactly 10 calendar days for my application to show up on the OCI website.
