Cancelled Indian passport with Surrender Certificate was delivered by purolator last week( 30-OCT-2020).
OCI delivered by purolator yesterday ( 5-NOV-2020).

We applied for OCI card for our baby through postal service in October and got it today. Here is the timeline:
Application sent - 06 oct
Acknowledgement- 08 oct
Registration Status at Mission - Vancouver
Documents Printing Status - 29 oct
Dispatched From MEA (OCI) - 30 oct
Document received At Vancouver - 30 oct
Dispatched on - 03 nov
Delivered at home - 06 nov

I did not send any checklist . Do complete the declaration by hand on page 4 of the OCI form. no other hand filled form required.

Hello! I just received my Canadian Passport last week, and I plan to travel to India in December.

Since the OCI process might take a few weeks to complete (potentially even 5-6 weeks or longer), I was thinking of getting an Indian e-visa to travel to India.

However, as far as I understand, apparently India has suspended entry of all foreign nationals holding e-visa.

Is this true? Not able to get clear information on Indian consulate's website.

They started issuing 6 month X ( entry visas) for Ex-Indian nationals on Oct 26th.
Evisas/Tourist visas are still not available.


BTW,
I was in the same boat, wanted to travel to India asap on X visa and get my OCI in India.
But my relatives in India told me to get my OCI in Canada.
Because of COVID , processes in India are very slow and backlog is high.

So I applied for my OCI here a few days ago and hopefully should get it in 4 weeks .
REcent posters have got it in 4 weeks.

Have you got any of them? I noticed your appl was acknowledged Oct 1.

I had to opt for pick up too as no appointment available. Purolator will pick up tomorrow.
Can you tell me when does status become visible on line ( CGI or BLS)?

Hi. First I received back my original documents on 21st October 2020 and surrendered Indian passport on 2nd November 2020 through Purolator.
My OCI is under process and hope next week I will be getting OCI.

1) You are right. DD is in the favor of 'The consulate General of India - Toronto' for Toronto applicants.
2) Yes I got that letter even for my minor son.
3) When I did this 2 months ago, my spouse and I had separate applications (had to fill two applicantions on OCIservices.gov.in) . I do not know what you mean by Family Application. Did you create an online application yet?
4) Everyone need their own application

I would recommend you to start filling in the online application for OCI.

The pick and drop off service allows only 1 application (OCI or Surrender) at a time (total of $50.7), so do I need to check-out twice ($50.7 + $50.7) for surrender & OCI?

Call the BLS agent and they will do everything for you on the phone. Have your credit card ready.

Self declaration. Just a simple letter stating you are not married will do.

Three last (hopefully) questions :

1. Do I need to self-attest photocopies for the surrender application as well? (or just the copies for OCI application)
2. Do I need to submit the original COPR? The BLS support center strongly encouraged me to submit it just in case the Consulate requires it.
3. Made a blunder today - got the demand draft made out to "BLS International Service Canada" instead of "BLS International Services Canada" - would this make a difference?

Hi, can you please tell me if you took appointment before going to brampton BLS?
I called them and they said you need an appointment and there are no slots till 10th nov.
And they are not booking any slots after 10th.
I am in a fix, it seems they want you to apply through courier.

I was at BLS Brampton office on 26th oct 2020. They were taking both walk in and by appointment customers. I had no appointment and even with appointment customers were in same line.

We applied OCI for our baby on 26th oct. they took cancelled passport of both parents at the same time and said we will receive with oci booklet. How did you receive acknowledgment? My tracking information says processing at consulate general.
