Oath Timeline after test at St. Clair Office

Welcome to the club of unfortunates! I applied in October 2011 and I still have not received my oath letter, so it has been more than 40 months since I applied. I assume you are talking about CIT0520? I received the same form in January 2015 which is basically a short version of the RQ. It is really sad that CIC continues to drag peoples applications when it should not take them 30 minutes to review these. I have been calling CIC for the past few weeks and the sad thing is that they are incapable of providing me with any good or valuable information so I am not sure what else we can except withdraw and re-apply as new applications take barely 6 months.

Completely agree with you, its absolutely unacceptable level of service. What I have observed here & on other forums, around 35th months processing of old files are expedited to meet the deadline of 36 months. Please hold on for few more months. I know its tough, I'm in the similar situation.

Did you contact your MP? also finding a lawyer to prepare for Mandamus is a good idea. If you think it is expensive/ not affordable Try if legal aid will take up your case. this is deficiency of service by any standards

In essence CIC is finding ways to stall granting of Citizenship on one or other pretext. MP's are just unsympathetic, they try to convince the applicants that CIC is overloaded but try them to inquire on your behalf. That way, there is gentle nudge to CIC to expedite.

As I mentioned few times before, frustration is an understatement.

The other thing is : my wife that I sponsored to come here received her citizenship last week so does it make sense that I am still waiting?

Have you requested the ATIP report lately ?. Yes, we have seen lot of applications with RQ for year 2012 & 2013 were processed.

But your MP's office claims that CIC is still working on RQ for Sep 2011 is quite hard to believe. You too, please take it with pinch of salt.

Unfortunately candidates are between devil and deep seas, CIC on one and MP's on other side seems remained uninterested in this mess.

I guess you may follow up with your MP once you receive your new ATIP report.

Actually it is important for people to find out who is the 'issues manager' to Chris Alexander, and then email him/her. Moreover, apparently, Chris Alexander has done a poor job at the CIC and he will soon be replaced with someone else.

14th Jan 2015. the officer name seems to be Michael as mentioned in my ATIP

CIC officer also told me that my file has been assined to an officer in mid January (still waiting for my ATIP report which is due in few days to confirm that). I have noticed on various forums a variety of timeframes between assigning the officer and making the decision. One case I have seen it took only a couple of weeks and the file was approved. Other cases have been waiting for sevaral months. Let us hope yours and mine are among the cases that will be processed fast.

Judging from readers postings on various forums, it takes approx 2 months. With Federal Elections on horizons, politicians might push for expeditious processing. Well its anybody's guess how many friends conservatives government made from new citizens ;D
