So I applied for citizenship in 2011. I got RQ'ed in early 2012 and submitted the RQ within about a month of receiving it. I got a letter to take the test and wrote and passed it in June 2014.

Now 3 years are up and no one can tell me when I'm going to see the end of this process. No one has told me anything regarding my application, like if I'm being referred to CJ or not, whether or not I need a hearing absolutely nothing. Furthermore no timelines have been given. When I wrote my test it was call us if you don't hear from us within 3 months, then it was your 3 years are not up yet call us then and now they aren't even speculating on when this will be over.

I could go into detail about why I think my application was delayed, I was probably RQ'ed due to extensive business travel. The agent I interviewed with made some vague reference about how my application went to multiple different departments before winding up at St. Claire although he didn't explicitly say why that happened or if that resulted in any delays.

So my question is what recourse do I have? Should I simply withdraw the application and reapply in June under the "new system" with my tax returns? Do I get a lawyer? If so who do I get and how much is this going to cost?

Advice would be appreciated.

Can you share more details :
1)Your timeline
2)Which country did you move from?
3)Your travel in the days preceding your application
4)Children/Family?
5)When did you become a landed immigrant?

best lawyer will take 3-5 K... you should contact your MP after completing 35 month

and if you are sure you have enough proof that you have stay over 1095 days

than you must exercise your right of mandamus if you will be well over

36 months...

1) get atip report fresh.

2) contact cic after processing time completed, and request them to follow up.

3) contact your local MP and request to follow your matter.

if all this will not work than you have to find the good and reliable lawyer

who review your case and give you the opinion from there you can proceed.

How important for you to be Canadian Citizen ? if you are not in hurry than

spending huge amounts is worth ? you have your PR card only you cannot

vote ? or visit the country where visa not needed for Canadian ? you can

easily take the visiting visa spending little amounts ?? any how decision is

yours..

Thanks Janoo
Do you think the MP will help ?
I've contacted my MP twice CP MP Willowdale. Each time I sent an email to his MP address and contacted him over FB. He took 3 months to reply to me each time and the reply was a generic "can't help you"

So don't waste your time. I've been watching these forums for 3 years and I can't recall a single instance where an MP has helped anybody (of course I stand to be corrected). ATIP is useless. It's only useful to a lawyer you would hire to sue.

This is what citizenship means to me: I don't have to spend 2 days of every month sitting in a consulate applying for a visa and spending $100's per month on visas. Voting is something I would like to be able to participate in but it's not nearly as important to me as the former.

IMO,
- MP can't help.
- Instead of keep calling CIC, you better go to pray in the temple or church, the outcome is the same : uncertainty. At least praying is good for your soul.
- ATIP or whatever, won't help. When it's stuck, it's stuck. No matter where it stuck.
- If you NEVER CHEAT about your application, get a lawyer asap.
- Agree with you on MP
- I don't pray I'm an Atheist
- Company just spend around 8K on lawyers on a work permit app for someone. The App was rejected. I really don't feel like blowing that kind of money on lawyers only to lose.
