I am on the same boat as you. Looks like they're preferring dependents for now :)

We just have to keep waiting :)
unsure about the preference..i have +1 dependent...still stuck in IP1...and applicants with aor just a day or two after mine seem to have received the PPR...*sigh*

They definitely have a preference to dependants I'm sure. Many single applicants from October are also waiting for update.

So I'm positive you will get it before me and the rest of the single applicants from here.

Hi There,

My AoR is 11 November 2018.

I wanted to know if its normal for Visa offices to call your manager to verify your work?

I moved departments in December 2018 - same NOC just new supervisor.

Do I need to inform CIC? and get a new reference letter.

Appreciate any help - Thanks

I remember a famous incident where some of the top stock pickers were given graphs of stocks and then asked to predict trends and future.

They all very confidently predicted & picked stocks accordingly.

Then it was revealed that all the graphs of stocks where generated using a random number generator.

There is no trend, no pattern. We, as humans, are primed to find patterns. So much that even in random data, patterns can be found.

No one is giving preference to dependants. Nor there is any logical reason I can think of. In fact, logically they should prefer applicants without dependants as they will not require childchare, education, healthcare etc for someone who is not working as the entire purpose of immigration to get workers to meet their shortages and bolster their tax collection, whose level at the moment is struggling to meet the funding requirements of social welfare programs. Adding more non-contributing people to their population does not sound optimal.

Calling manager to verify work is done only if VO is not satisfied that all the evidence submitted proves your work experience. If your workplace doesn't have a website, then chances of workplace verification are quite likely.

Surely your old manager/supervisor will be able to verify employment, if contacted?

Thanks! I have only worked at one company (well known company) and I have given all of my payslips as proof with the reference letter.

I was just afraid they might call and find out I changed departments and didn't notify them.

Your job code is in-demand list, I believe. So not surprising that you got your PPR quick. Some folks in October made a comparison and found that job code and dependants were the only difference between people who got their PPR and the ones who are still waiting.

Anyways, something to wonder while we continue to wait lol

Congrats and good luck!!

Not sure if it is true about the job code. I am single applicant from India. AOR is 7th November. Medical got passed on December. But no progress after that. I have also applied for job code 2173

I think we'll have most profiles done this month for November AOR's. My job code is 2173 as well, fingers crossed :)

Bro, my NOC is 2174, a family of four with two children. Based on this logic, I would've received the golden mail couple of months ago :)
AOR - Oct 30.

I think the occupation in-demand list is based on the PNP programs.

A few days ago, I got involved in a conversation with the October folks. Some proposed a theory that those who have gotten PPR may have their occupations in demand list. They weren't really sure how this was looked at because different provinces have different in-demand list, maybe they're looking at job codes that are in-demand across more than one province? Who knows?

Anyways, they tested it out by comparing it few who got their PPRs and most of them had a spouse and fell in the in-demand occupation list like 2173, 2175, 1221, 1111 etc. These codes were actually in-demand list in some of the provinces like Ontario, Alberta, British Columbia etc.

The applicant + spouse with an in-demand occupation have a better chance in finding a job quickly and contributing to the economy faster by paying taxes than single applicants who do not have an occupation in-demand list. This system is also followed by Australian Immigration, when the candidate fills the application there is a question which specifically asks the candidate whether their occupation is in-demand in Australia. Maybe Canada doesn't openly do it.

However, there were also one or two cases that did not fell into the in-demand occupation list. Now again, this is all just an assumption based on a theory and nobody really knows if that is true. But it was nice to look into. Some people agreed and some didn't!!

Again, I am not being negative here or venting out my frustration. I am just stating an information what I've read from other forums. People are free to agree to disagree. If you don't like my post, you're welcome to ignore it.
