My wife's citizenship application was received by IRCC Sydney Office. After 3 weeks, We sent a withdrawal request and they received it exactly 27 days after receiving the original application. After 2 months, they put the application in process and processed the withdrawal request the same day to make us forfeit $530!!! Is IRCC bunch of crooks?!! What shall I do to get my money back?

It’s stated in the application that any withdrawal CIC will not refund the full amount, and again what’s the purpose of withdrawing the application?

Bt that amount is too much out of 630

Hi, Any one who passed the test on May 30th 2018 from Surrey BC got invitation for citizenship ceremony ?
I did my test on May 31st, no reply yet.

They should refund the full amount ($530 application fees and $100 right of citizenship fees) as long as they receive my request and accept it before they start processing the application by the local office. If you request the withdrawal after the application started being processed, then you lose the application fees $530 and they refund only $100. They put the application "In Process" and processed the withdrawal request the same day!!

My wife is taking a course that is subsidised by the government. We got to know that even if she applies for citizenship before finishing the course, she won't get her certificate. That's why we had to request a withdrawal just 3 weeks after we sent the application.

Hi Today I got CIT-0520 from citizenship officer. The form states to provide documents for specific dates and under the checklist items only two items (USA exit reentry report & Itineraries) are TICK MARKED or CHECK MARKED.

My question is do I have to provide only these TWO Check Marked items by officer or the whole checklist items in CIT-0520.

Please let me how it works as i have a tight deadline.

Thanks
Just the ones checked.

Because I am impatient, because I would like to know if anything is holding my application up, because some have said it might spur some movement, because I don't want to wait much longer since I have a lot of travel to do in the late summer/fall, because I want to become a citizen sooner rather than later, because my application is pretty simple and I don't know why it is taking so long, because 4 1/2 months is somewhat long for in process, because I have lived here 19 years and just want this whole stupid process to be done, etc.

Update.

Called my MP's office at 9.15, they returned my call with info from CIC at 10.38. At least the MP's office is responsive! My file has been transferred to MTL but the block is the security clearance.
I love you, egghead.

You express the levels of frustration precisely and succinctly.

Why IRCC can't communicate more progress lines/updates via their eCAS system so that applicants can at least see that SOMETHING is happening on their individual file, is beyond me. No doubt they all have the latest computers and plenty of in-house IT assistance to help them.

Anyhow, the purported "security clearance" hold-up for certain applicants whose files ought, one would've thought, to have been straight-shots & slam-dunks is an intriguing aspect at the moment.

When one sees other applicants' files progressing smoothly through the process, particularly applicants at the same processing office as one's own file, and whose Delivered & AOR & IP dates are AFTER one's own, one does begin to wonder what "security clearance" is code for...

Ha. Well I'm glad you got an answer - looks like more waiting is on the books. For what it's worth - I am pretty sure we are all sick of waiting, including me.

Dear admin, please update the status, it's row#316 (cricdominion/Fort McMurray/Family of 5):

Test date: July 23, 2018

Details: My application was in IP since February 15th. I was trying to contact CIC since 3 weeks, & luckily got the agent on the line last Friday who told me that my file is being processed by Edmonton office, she also informed me that there was a note on my file that the Edmonton office tried to reach my phone on May 30th to see if I was (& my spouse as it was a family case) available for the test on July 9th in Edmonton. I told the agent to inform the office about my availability. Yesterday I got a call from "UNKNOWN NO" if I am available on July 23rd for the test/oath in Edmonton. After my affirmation, the caller told me that I will get details 2 weeks before the test either by post or by email.

Now I would suggest all remote-location applicants that they may get calls from the nearest CIC location for the test via phone, which is though weird as they may not communicate the schedule by mail or email. So be ready to get phone calls from UNKNOWN CALLER ID. But in order to avoid scams, keep in mind that the caller will not ask you for your personal details, only confirms your name, email address and mailing address.

Remote locations usually won't get test/oath so frequently, may be twice or thrice a year depending upon the number of applicants for that location and availability of the oath commissioner etc. So, grab the opportunity if they offer you to come to the nearest city from your location.
