Test request came today for me and wife.
Test date: March 22

Question:
1) Our minor kid didn't get invite to test. Don't they need to go to test with us as i have their application too?
2) Can i just take our kid with us anyways because we don't have a daycare arranged....

No, they do not to be present, as minors don't need to write the test. You do need to take the original documents for their application with you, as those will be reviewed by the citizenship officer.

You can take the kid with you, but you must have someone who can take care of them during the test and interview itself.

this info is in the invitation lettre:

TEST/INTERVIEW FACILITIES: Only those scheduled for the written test or interview are allowed in the
Testing/interview room. If you bring young children, you should have someone with you to watch over them.
If you cannot make suitable arrangements for child care, your appointment can be rescheduled for a later
date.

That's what the letter says and yes... you wait a lot, cause they have to check the identity of every person that's going to present the exam (like 90 ppl) and after that you have the interview

• Check-in (ID and invitation is checked).
  
• Wait.
• Get directed to the room where the test is taken, ID-check on the way there.
  
• Wait for everyone to filter in, listen to the instructions, get the test sheet.
  
• Take the test (max 30 minutes).
• Go to the waiting area, and wait to be called by the citizenship officer.
  
• Interview and document check.
• Done.

If you're lucky you can be out of there within the hour, but if you're one of the last to get called for the interview you can be there for multiple hours, and most of that time you'll spend waiting.

There are around 40 applicants from Brampton and Mississauga on our November tracker out of which only 1 has received test invite. This sucks and seems extremely slow for this part of the country- I have my IP since Dec 28th and was hoping to receive test invite in Feb and we are already in 2nd week of March and nothing

Be patient my friend.
Some offices/officers prefer that the applicant clears all background and security checks before they receive invitation for writing the test, while other offices/officers invite applicants for test while waiting for background and security clearance.
Anyway, they all meet at the end for a comparable total processing time.
I guess your office is one of those who prefer to wait.
Don't panic over those who received invitation already. Most of them won't get DM until they clear checks even after they pass the test.
