November 2017 - Citizenship Applicants

Hello to all,

I‘m also a november 2017 applicant and I already received my test date this March. Just wondering by any chance if i could update or include my kid (4 year old) to my application hence they change the fee for the minor applicant.

Ps. By the way my wife and kid just landed in canada last year so I’m thinking is it ok to add my son to my application or will I submit new application for him.

My wife will wait for 3 years to apply, is this also applies for the minor applicants too?

I dont think you can add an applicant later. Others can tell too.

Staus: In process Feb. 6

Is it ok to call CIC to request urgent processing of our application for my son's School Tour Group in Europe? He will be neededing Canadian passport by April 2018 enable for him to register and join the tour in 5 different countries in Europe. Im just worried if Im going to call CIC and tell them its beacause of the tour group then they will be annoyed can cause delay in our processing. Im not sure on my timeline if we have enough time to be granted the citizenship by April 2018. Just my thoughts. TIA

Hi- I remember reading about urgent processing requirements- and it doesn't look like in your case it fulfils it. Google the requirements and see for yourself (i think cases where there are considerations are like Travel for death of relative, Job purpose etc

IMO, this is not a good enough reason to be accepted for urgent processing. It has to be an emergency.

To apply for urgent processing, you must be eligible to apply for citizenship and have an emergency, such as:

• needing Canadian citizenship to:
  • apply for a job
  • avoid losing your job
  • go to a Canadian school, college or university
• needing to travel because of death or serious illness in your family and you can’t get a passport in your current nationality
• receiving a successful Federal Court decision on an appeal on a previous application for citizenship
