I am pretty busy with work so dont have a ton of time to read through these forums. I did login to the "CIC check application status" link and found the following:
Sponsorship
We received your application to sponsor **************** on November 3, 2015.
We sent you correspondence acknowledging receipt of your application(s) on December 23, 2015.
We started processing your application on December 22, 2015
Permanent Residence
We received ***********'s application for permanent residence on November 3, 2015.
Medical results have been received.

We are doing outland from the USA, and I've heard this can be quicker. We have also not done the FBI check yet due to our schedule but have heard of some friends going through the process and not doing a Police check. Does all seem normal in what we are seeing online for our case status? Has anyone else heard on not doing the FBI check?

An FBI check is required. What you might have heard is some people aren't sending it in right away since it's an extremely slow processing time for getting them. I would apply ASAP, they are processing them right now at 4 months and it will likely delay your application if you wait to request it.

I think I did hear on this forum once that their FBI check took such a long time they just got their CoPR without it. That's odd though and you shouldn't bank on that happening to you.
