Hi I am new to this forum and this is my first time posting, I have followed this forum but never actually posted anything, this forum has supported me and my wife through completing our spousal application outland.

I am a Slovak National living in England for 10 years now and my wife is a Canadian citizen, we have been married for over 5 years and have one child together, since our marriage which took place in Canada we moved to England just after our marriage in 2008 and we been studying and working since.

We have completed our spousal application outland in less than 2 months we included medicals which I have done in October 2014 and the criminal record check which we received back in October 2014 as well as all fees paid online and confirmation attached to the application, the complete application with all evidence weight 3kg/7lb and we send it through FedEx on the 04/11/2014 and it was received by JAMAL on 5/11/2014.

And now its all a waiting game, did anyone that sent their applications in Beginning of November received confirmation about their applications?
There is a spreadsheet for November applicants here where you can see the status of other applications, and indeed add your own application to the spreadsheet.

Note: Mississauga does not generally send out an acknowledgement of receipt when they receive your application. The first communication you receive from CIC is normally sponsor approval, however recently I have seen applicants getting an AOR and then soon after getting sponsor approval, so I cannot say for sure.

Is AOR and SA usually by letter?

Also, I paid my fees in 2012, but didnt submit my application until this month. I hope this won't be an issue.

Generally if the sponsor provides an e-mail address they will receive sponsor approval by e-mail, however in some cases even though an e-mail address was provided the officer decided to snail mail instead.

Not sure about your fee question, it should not be an issue as long as you still have the receipt and sent it in with your application.

Yes I am. I was on an IEC visa from 2011-2013, in Australia for the last 6 months of 2013 and have been in Canada as a visitor since January 2014. We applied in September 2014 for spousal sponsorship.

Good luck!

Could i just ask two more questions?

First my wifes sister is getting married in July 2015 i am hoping to get all papers processed by then but i know this is a 50/50 you recon once i am in canada as a visitor i could possibly stay while my application is being processed? We have quite good savings plus my wifes family will be there to support us until i can start working, but i think my wife would not have a problem finding a job until i get my paperwork sorted.

Two if my paperwork does come through by july will i need to purchase a return airfare ticket for the whole family or would just one way be ok?

Q1: So you are currently in England and want to visit Canada until your PR application is approved?

If that is the case then yes, a lot of people stay in Canada as a visitor until their PR application is approved. You would need to check if you need a visitor visa prior to flying to Canada. You can check here. If you are visa exempt then when you come to Canada the CBSA will just ask how long you plan on being in Canada, you can just say less than 6 months and you will most likely receive a visitor record allowing you to stay for no longer than 6 months. If at the end of your 6 month visitor record you do not have PR you can apply to extend it. I have extended my own twice this year.

Q2: A one way ticket should be enough, however some airlines have their own policy on this. You could buy a refundable return ticket for you only and ask for a refund once you have landed. I assume you have applied for citizenship for your child so you are the only one who would need a return ticket.

Thanks for the reply, Yes I am still in England and plan on going to Canada in May so my wife can help her sister with the wedding planning but I am not sure if my application will be processed by then as it states London office takes 11 months to process the application. My country is visa exempt so that should not be problem.

I will check with the airlines about the refund policies and yes we have applied for citizenship for our daughter (still in process).

Do you think if my application is not processed by May should I have a return ticket within 3 Months for all 3 of us if we travel in May?

Remember that the 11 months does not include the time it takes to receive sponsor approval.

However, you may not be aware that recently a lot of applications have been staying in Canada (Mississauga or Ottawa) for the whole process and generally these applications have been approved in less than 6 months. There is no way of knowing if your application will stay in Canada but it is worth knowing that this is an option.

If your application does go to London then it is worth knowing that the 11 months is worst case. The 11 months means it takes them 11 months to process 80% of applications received (but of that 80% 60% could be processed in 4 months, etc). You can see a spreadsheet for London applicants here and you will see that the average for London is just under 7 months.

If you can afford to buy 3 return tickets (assuming your daughter is of age where she needs a ticket) and you can easily get the return journey refunded then why not? But remember that 3 months from May is August and there is a very high chance that your PR application will be approved by then.

Finally you will have sponsor approval by the time you fly here in May so have a copy of the sponsor approval letter with you when you land, most CBSA officers are aware that applicants will stay as a visitor, extending if necessary until they get PR.

I agree with you.. this waiting kills us!
It is on the news actually.
take a look at this: http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/permanent-residency-spouse-sponsorship-delays-leave-new-dad-unable-to-support-family-1.2872148
It needs to change. Apparently there are only 10 thousand spouses sponsorship applications in Canada which is not so bad! I thought there were over a million applications because of all the wait).
If I were to sponsor my spouse to come to my country, it'd only take 30 days to get all docs including free health care.
