The (f) in regulation R186 only applies to a scenario where a person is a full time student and working on campus. They can only work 'on-campus' during their studies. Even if you are a student, and like to work outside of your university, you need an off-campus work permit. If your friend was working outside the campus, with a valid study permit, I don't think it would be authorized.

Personally, I worked on my off-campus work permit post graduation for one month until I got my Post Graduation Work permit end of July. I applied for PR in November after 14 months so that my 1 year experience comes on the PGWP.

Just my two cents. I don't have background on your friend's case - hence ignore this if I assumed something completely wrong.

No No my friend u r absolutely right and ur case is same like me I applied my CEC after 14 months so as to complete my work experience on PGWP for 1 year.
Also, my friend worked on-campus while he was studying and which got converted to full-time latter after completion of his studies...
Moreover, my friend feels that he did a big mistake of NOT applying Off-Campus WP now... But, the fact is that time is gone by now....
So, the only thing he could do is re-apply, but we are finding a way out of this situation coz they literally mentioned word "unauthorized" in the email which sounds like a big deal to me. So, just finding ways to support his case if he re-apply.
BTW thank you for considering and having an interest into it...

Here are my GCMS notes. I applied March 5th and received today ( April 4th). I have a few questions.. can someone help me please? It doesn't seem like a whole lot has been started..


Counterfoil required:Yes ( what does this mean?)
Eligibility : 1
Not started
Due date: 2015 -01-06. I am assuming this means everything should be completed with a decision made by then?
RCMP: No reportable trace ( Good thing right?) Is it safe to say that I won't be required to submit one?

Oh and medical due date by July!

I am thinking that I should wait a week and then apply again..what do you think?

"Counterfoil required" always says "yes" until CIC starts processing your application, then either changes to "No"
for applicants form visa exempt countries, or stays "Yes".
What it means is, that CIC will send you a passport request if you are from a non visa exempt country.
