helloooo folks
So yes, finally my fiancee did the landing today at rainbow bridge, Niagara falls
It was not a hassle at all
Let me tell you guys what she had told me
so we went there yesterday itself and got a room which was supposedly facing the Niagara falls. It was in fact facing the falls and the view would have been quite amazing if there weren't two other buildings in front of it
but that was OK, since we didn't go there for a romantic getaway, it was all business
today morning we parked our car at a public parking near the rainbow bridge, for which the guy ripped me off...for all those who go to the rainbow bridge in car and looking for parking, there are so many parking spots out there for 5bucks, and some are like only $1.50 and hour...so look around
so where was I? yeh then we went to the bridge and she started walking (she was kinda tensed though, guess she forgot my instructions "if something goes wrong, jump into the river and swim to the any side") I wanted to stick around there but it was too damn cold, so I walked over to a Wendy's nearby on Clifton hill road and ordered a Baconator. So I munch through my sandwich real fast ad I was just having my fries when she called back and said that she was done, and that was so fast....though I wanted to have the fries, I didn't want to take it outside since I had to wear the gloves
anyways, so she went over to the US border and informed the officer that she wants an administrative refusal and all that. the guy over at the desk was a young guy it seems. so he started asking routine questions and then he asked "why do you want to be in Canada?' and she thought it was a joke and she started smiling and looking at him. that's when she realized that he wasn't joking ;D ;D ;D ;D
so she gave some bull*censored word* answer which she always does 8) and he was ok with it
and then that guy took all the documents and went inside while there was an older guy standing behind the desk. so he asked "where is your partner then?" and she is like "what partner?"
Officer: I see your wedding ring
Her: that's not a wedding ring (pause.....) I am seeing someone
she had declared on her file that she is single ( we didn't want to apply together for PR)
so this young guy comes back and this older officer says to him "she is not married but she has a ring though"
I guess the border guys are supposed to always cocky
it doesn't matter, they didn't give her any hard time, they just gave all the docs back and she starts walking to the Canadian side
here it was an entire different story, the officers were relaxed and easy going and she was done in like 5 mins. they did ask her the bank statements but she said she doesn't have it and she showed him the recent pay stub and he was satisfied. surprisingly they didn't tell her that the ritualistic "Congratulation, you are now permanent resident". If they had, it would have been funny cos I had told her that when they say that you are supposed to salute them and say why you love Canada so much and summarize all your good and bad moments in this country.....ha ha ha
the whole deal took like 20-25 mins...we wanted to roam around more over there but it was kinda cold today, and I was pretty bummed by the parking lot guy and because of the hotel, we just drove back to Toronto. I promised her when my landing comes we would stay at the embassy hotel that gets the best view of the falls...
the end !!!
