Hi everyone,

I just mailed off our application on Thursday - it is supposed to arrive in Mississauga on November 5th. I don't see another thread yet for November folks so I thought I'd start one!

I just returned to Canada (BC) after spending 4 years in California. My partner is still living and working in California. We are seriously hoping that waiting period will go quickly - she is hoping to move here in June, which will be 8 months away.

We did the paperwork all ourselves, without a lawyer, but did have some input and advice from friends who had recently gone through the process -- and from this forum, of course!

Looking forward to hearing from some others!
Your application went into processing fast

Hi there,
I applied to Visa Office - Vegreville
Application Recieved - Nov 16 2012
No update recieved yet....

I am currently on implied status but need to leave the country mid July. I need to fly to Ireland for a wedding.

Does anyone have a current timeline as to how long the first step in the process takes?
It says 6 months on CIC website, it has been over 6 months now.

Hi Lena 1984,

It took right about four months from the time I was notified of spousal approval and actually got a file number to the "decision made" being changed. My status never said, "in process." Got COPR three days after status change.

oh wow so there is hope then lol . I was approved Feb 5 and the papers didn't get to Mexico till April 3.Really hope things will start moving faster.Checking ecas everyday and same thing everyday....Application received...medical results received...

Hi!
It says on CIC's website that they're working on applications received on October 8th at the moment, so I'm sure you'll hear from them in a few weeks! You can check that at http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/times/perm-fc.asp :)

Congratulations bscinto92! :)

Hope the rest of our group also gets their COPR/PPR/DM soon!!

It feels weird to be honest! But good weird haha!
I have to admit Canadians are super super nice.. I can't even count how many "welcome to Canada" I've heard...at the border (CBSA and Customs officers), at Service Canada...and pretty much everywhere else :D I don't think my country welcomes every new immigrant like this though they should!

hahaha thank you m_and_m .... i have to admit i also think its a weird feeling knowing that the process is very close to being over for me as well... i think what makes it feel that way is the fact that it all came about wayyyy faster than i imagined, so it kind of snuck up on me when i wasn't all that prepared for it lol. but!! for as strange as it may feel i am also very relieved and very excited to start my new life up in canada : )

Well with this strike going on I can see I'll be around for a while longer! :(
Honestly wouldn't know what I would do without this forum - it's keeping what's left of my sanity lol.
