Hi all!

Signed up a few days back and this is my first post. However, I have been reading these forums for quiet a while and it has helped me tremendously putting our package together.

I finally sent off my wife's sponsorship paperwork last week on Tue, Nov. 20 and CIC received it Nov. 21. Our application is pretty straight forward, so I'm hoping there will be no issues and it can be processed faster than the average time! I guess all the stars need to align perfectly too.

Hey bo12,

If you are applying inland, indeed the applicant can not travel. If you are applying outland ( and I suppose you are, otherwise you would be with your husband!) the sponsor and the applicant can travel in and out of Canada without any risks for the application. The only thing is: if you are Canadian (as a sponsor) you can stay out of Canada the whole time, if you are a PR of Canada, you can only stay for short period of times as you are supposed to stay in Canada for the process... but a holidays of 2 weeks for example is not a problem at all - and if the sponsors goes to visit the applicant outside of Canada, make sure you keep all the proofs of that, so for stage 2, if you are asked for more proofs about the relationship, you can add these...

Congratulations on getting the application together and good luck on the process!
You need to have at least 10 posts before you can add information on your profile, so keep posting, and you'll get there soon ( same for sending private messages). If you want to be added to the spreadsheet with information, you can post a message here, and ask to be added to the spreadsheet.

He is allowed to come and visit you, and as long as you keep it to "a reasonable time " ( for a visit, not for staying together!!), then it will be fine. He can come and stay 2 weeks with you, and then return to Canada. Keep all the proofs of the visit, so if you are asked for more proofs, you have everything ready to send and the application gets approved super fast!

Things seem to be a bit quiet at CIC. I was looking at the processing times for October and noticed alot of applicants recieved their AOR within 17 - 23 days with a couple of exceptions. One recieved their AOR in 15 days. I know its the beginning of the week and CIC needs a couple of days to get in the groove but I hop to hear something this week,,,,,,,They have had my app for 20 days. Could be jumping the gun a bit but hey, what else can you do except check the boards and hope..... ;D

My husband and I sent my application on November 22 to Vergreville,AB ,because we are in inland process.I came to Canada in May and we got married in July ,here in Canada.We were 4 years in long distance relationship,and finally that is over Does anyone know have does it take for the first response?

Inland first step is about 6 months for now, so you have time! congrats on getting everything together and sending it to CIC, now is waiting time - luckily you're with your husband so it makes it much easier!

Hello guys,

CIC got my application on November 26th in Vergreville,AB (inland application) after getting married on October, we got all the papers together in a month including the medical exams, that was crazy!!! ..but anyway, i know CIC got my papers because i have the signature and the tracking from Canada post express service, but i read that there is a AOR ... is it true or not?? should i call to CIC and ask them if they have gotten my application?? or should i just wait 6 months without knowing is they are working on my application or not??

BTW Sweden can you please add me to the spreadsheet please?

Yes, I sent both. I figured out how to add myself to the spreadsheet , so I do it myself , you dont have to worry about it,thank you anyway.
