your right Prayer Sword, I did not realize that the UCI number is for the sponsor and the File number is for the applicant.
Thanks! :)

No it's wrong because my hubby and I had a different UCI# and different File# .

Did your husband immigrate to Canada as well? I think that is why a sponsor would have a different UCI/App# than the sponsee. At least, that is what I've been gathering from these forums.

My husband (a Canadian Citizen by birth and therefore never had interaction with immigration until now) and I only have one thus far, so I could be wrong and have just not been informed of a different one, but I can look up my information using the app# that came on the sponsor approval letter and my husband can use the UCI number from the approval letter.

Thanks for the info Stateofconfusion. We have the same situation, my husband is a citizen by birth too.
I got confused a little bit there. I thought everyone here has the same trend about that file number for the applicant and UCI number for the sponsor, but now i have learned that it depends on the citizenship of the sponsor. Am I right? :)

I think it will be difficult for most of us to answer your question considering that the immense majority of us are applying through the Family Class route, which requires a different set of documents and a different procedure of assessment for different criteria.

It would probably be most productive for you to try the FSW sub-forum for this, since it will be more likely to find people with similar processes and knowledge about the details of it.

Good luck!

I *think* so. That's the conclusion I've been drawing from all of the threads and posts I've been reading. But I might be completely wrong, and a future UCI# and App# just haven't reached me yet. I would love to hear from others about it as I love knowing what I should be expecting. :)

UCI is unique to each applicant. anyone who has ever gone through an immigration/citizenship process will have one assigned to them.

initially, only the sponsor's UCI is printed on the document (AOR and Sponsorship Approval), and once the sponsor is approved and the documents are sent to the country of the spouse, the spouse is issued their unique UCI (printed on PPR, or any other document request).

hope this helps
