Hello everyone,

Please can someone tell if this is applicable. As one's file is on the elevent to twelve (11-12)months now, one"s work experience increases exponentially too. Then, my query is does the additional year in work experience count in one's favour as NSOI begins processing of one's file?

Thank you.

I got the AOR email at approximately 14:00 Nova scotia time. I am not sure their office closing hours but they must be going through the applications in order and I am hopeful that you will get it today. I received PreAOR a day before my AOR at the same time when almost everyone got it.

Hi Bro, is there any further communication after AOR?

Hi Guys,

I have some queries regarding application for Nova Scotia.

As per their application guide:

Category 2: Paid Work Experience in an Opportunity Occupation
You have at least one year of continuous full-time (or 1,560 hours or more) or an equal amount in part-time paid
work experience in the last 10 years in one of the opportunity occupations listed in Appendix 1.

At the bottom of their application guide they have a section Appendix 3 – Forms and Supporting Documents Reference Sheet

Work experience
For the principal applicant:
The applicant must have accumulated at least one year of continuous full-time paid work experience, or the
equivalent in continuous paid part-time work experience, in the occupation identified as their primary
occupation
, that is listed in Skill Type 0, Skill Level A or B of NOC 2011.
In order to meet the minimum requirements, the applicant’s skilled work experience must have occurred within
the 10 years preceding the date of their application.

Now this is a bit confusing for me:

My work experience is:

Sep 2008 - Jan2010 (NOC 2173) In Nova Scotia opportunity occupations list
Feb 2010 - Current (NOC 2283) Not in their opportunity occupation list

My questions:

1. Can i apply for their program showing the experience of NOC 2173 as it is in more than one year and in the last 10 years.
2. In appendix 3 they state that the work experience must be in the primary occupation and as per CIC website the primary occupation is for the last five years. Can i still apply as NOC 2173 experience is more than 5 years old?
3. This is more of a question for Express Entry profile. Where it asks for your primary occupation can i put NOC 2173 as my primary occupation?

Thanks

Anybody? ::)

Hi there I would suggest you to go to NOC code of both and select the best suitable. Also select NOC to which employer who can give you more accurate job roles as stated in NOC. NSOI would later ask you to provide Employement letter with hours of work, salary etc, NOC comparison try to select NOC code with employer who is flexible to provide you altered employment letter at a later stage at the time of AOR.

Hi gappy31600,

Your work experience no matter how long and inasmuch as it is not below 1year must occur within an occupation in demand in Canada. That being so, whether 5yrs or 10, the principle remains same, namely that you must apply to an occupation in demand and that has been identified by them as occupation demand list. That you must have a requisite work experience of atleast 1year duration in this profession. If you fail to meet these criteria, I'm afraid that you stand a greater chance of refusal should you decide to apply in an occupation not in demand.

That being said, it is pertinent to note that provincial nomination is aligned to CIC express entry program so that once nominated, nominees can accept it CIC and that will result to a boasting of ones point by additional 600! That being so, if you have a CIC profile and let's say you meet FSW criteria, you will be eligible. Then, this means that you are eligible for nomination as well. But if you try to create a CIC account with an occupation not in demand list, then, your guess is good as mine. At any rate, whether you have 10years experience in a not demand occupation, and have just on the dot 1yr in demand own, you must ensure that you meet all criteria for migration of which you are expected to apply in a demand occupation. Also, whether you have a PhD, MSc or Bachelors, you must provide an ECA to back it up except you had them in Canada. So do the right thing and all the best.

I just called NSOI office five minutes ago to enquire my application status. A lady called Anna told me that my case has not been assigned to an officer yet. It has been 20 days after AOR.. :-[

IF they are so slow how will they clear the backlogs ????? and start this years

Hi oksma

Thanks for the detailed reply. I am already in the EE pool and have got ECA, IELTS done.
I have a total experience of around 8 years.
This question is specifically for Nova Scotia.
I have more than one year of experience in an occupation in demand in Nova Scotia. But that experience was from Sep 2008 to Feb 2010.
1) As per your comment i am eligible for to apply for Nova Scotia using this experience as its in the last 10 years. Am i right?

Also when creating the EE profile we have to select a Primary Occupation/Code. Can this primary code be of the job experience mentioned above.
