Notifying CIC of employer change

Hi Everyone,

I just changed occupations, and I can't find a NOC for my new job. I applied under CEC NOC 2241. I had 19 months of experience before I accepted a new position at a different company.

I know I have to notify CIC that I have changed my occupation. do you think it will affect the way they evaluate my file now that I can't find a proper NOC for my new position?

Also, I started the new position on Feb 6, 2015. I received my AOR on Feb 9, 2015. Would it make a difference if I don't send them an email until the beginning of March?


PS: the position is Circuit Annotation Tech. if any of you can help me deciding on a NOC that would be great.

Hi,
don't worry, your PR application is based on your previous experience. You can accept any kind of job now.

No need to inform CIC anything at this stage. Thumb rule as seniors mentioned in this post is do not send anything until it has been asked by CIC.

You don't really need to update the CIC urgently. It's not a critical info. Some applicants don't do it at all. I really don't understand why would you attach a letter from your previous employer. It's not relevant. Don't give any unnecessary documents the CIC.

But in the email in which I got my AOR, it clearly states that I should notify them if I get a new occupation

I was thinking about giving them a letter that confirms the employment period at my old job.

I wanted to let them know incase they ever call my employer to confirm my position

No, read the email carefully. It says that you should notify CIC about changes in your application. Changing employer after applying cec doesn't change the application. AOR email has some kind of generic form which sent to applicants in different emmigration programs and for some of them changing job may affect the application.

Do not offer unnecessary information or your application may be delayed. I provided my spouse's reference letter when I sent my files. As a result, a careless VO considered my spouse's reference letter as mine so my application was delayed for 4 months. I am still waiting for my PPR now.

You HAVE TO inform VO about change in employment. No need to provide any documents related to current employment as it wont be taken into consideration. In CSE, you can write that to let you know if they need anymore documents.

VO may think that you want to change your application which may cause additional delays and unnecessary reviews. CIC does not request you to inform about each employer you worked for on your open work permit (if it is a legal employer and it's not required by your application). Don't worry, "big brother" is not watching you.

if I have to inform them, do I just let them know that I no longer work with my previous employer at this email "CIO-Sydney-Search-Enquiry@cic.gc.ca" ? or through CSE?

I am little confused and don't want to do a mistake that will cost to waste my time.
