Thank you :)

Why would you want to notarize a letter of invitation? that serves no purpose at all.

I agree with jalex. It is not even the requirement. Even a simple plain text email sent to your relative or friend can fulfill the requirement of the invitation letter.

sorry. it's an affidavit saying that I will bear food and lodging for the visa applicant. I could go to a lawyer but the ones that I have enquired so far are being kind of unreasonable so I was thinking if I could get my document notarized at a town/city hall.

"Notarization is the official fraud-deterrent process that assures the parties of a transaction that a document is authentic, and can be trusted. It is a three-part process, performed by a Notary Public, that includes of vetting, certifying and record-keeping."

So basically you could write down that the Canadian Flag is blue with ribbons and get that notarized. As the contents are of no interest for the notary (true or false) CIC doesn't care if the letter of invitation (affidavit) is notarized or not.

Notarization serves no purpose at all.

Notarization doesn't do any good in this case. Don't bother with it. More important is the quality of the content of your letter.

Hi all

I have question, my friend who are living in Manitoba, he will write a invitation letter to invite me come MB to perform exploratory visit with purpose of immigration.
So, does my friend need to notary this invitation letter or not?

Thanks a lot.

If the checklist specifies it then yes, if not... then no.
