Hello,
I want to get photocopies of some documents notarized (what we call as attested in India). The FSW guide says the following.
To have a photocopy of a document certified, an authorized person must compare the original document to the photocopy and must print the following on the photocopy:
• ‘‘I certify that this is a true copy of the original document’’
• the name of the original document
• the date of the certification
• his or her name
• his or her official position or title
• his or her signature
However, when I went to a bank, the notary said that they can only notarize my signature. Which means that I have to write myself that "I certify that this is a true copy of the original document" and sign. Then they will notarize my signature. They will not even look at the original document.
Can anyone help me in getting a notary certify the true copy? Do I need to get it notarized from somewhere else?
Thanks!
