Hi All,
I am Permanent Resident in Canada. I haven't lived for 3 years. The total time period i am living in Canada is 2 years. To apply for citizenship, it is 3 out of 5 years. Am I eligible to apply for citizenship? Is it possible to renew the PR for another 5 years after first 5 years are completed? during the total 10 years, once 3 years are completed, then Citizenship can be applied for?

You lived here 2 years but need 3 out of 5. Your ineligibility is obvious...
Also, you can renew your PR card indefinitely, if you respect its residency requirement (2 years out of 5), but the citizenship period only accounts for the 5 years immediately before signing your app. If you spend 2 years here, leave and renew your PR after 3 other years (so you can renew your PR with 2 out of 5), then leave another 3 years and come back to keep your PR eligibility, those 2 years you spent in Canada can't be used for citizenship purposes.

The five years are rolling. They don’t reset. If you lived here the first 2 out of the past five years, and you’re not in Canada now, you better get yourself back here asap. You could be at risk of losing your PR status.

Now, if you don’t care about living here, then you have nothing to worry about.

Out of the last 5 years (June 2018 to june 2023) which years did you live in Canada? If for example, you have been living in Canada since June 2021 up until now, that's 2 years, then all you need is to wait one more year to make it 3 years, so that you're able to apply for citizenship next year. It doesn't matter of your p.r card is expired or not, you would still be eligible for citizenship.

Also don't forget to file your taxes for each year you lived in Canada (3 minimum).

That should be a disqualifying question.
