Hi All,
I want to sponsor my spouse. I am a non-resident canadian citizen living and working in the USA for the past 10 years. I need to prove that I will live in Canada once my wife becomes a PR of Canada. I was thinking about including the following:
1) Letter from myself, explaining that my company has an office in Canada, and that I have approval from my manager to work from that office as soon as my wife's PR is approved.
-- I *MAY* be able to get a letter from my manager which can confirm what I said.
2) I have maintained my canadian bank account even though there hasn't been much activity

I do not have any other ties. Can you guys suggest anything else that I can include? Should I get letters from my friends in Canada and/or USA confirming I have talked to them about moving back to Canada?

Friends themselves are ties. House rental? Relatives in Canada? Assets are good really. You will have to demonstrate a solid plan in your letter.

As a show of good faith, why can't you move back to Canada first? After all, deeds do speak louder than words. You should back up your intentions with something a little more concrete.

Well, human basic needs include food, shelter, clothing etc. you'll need a job in order to provide for oneself and another person, so definitely a job offer and accommodation agreement (family member or friend) can write a letter of intent to lease you their apartment/basement/room in a house etc. upon your return to Canada. They'll definitely prefer a letter from the work or intended landlord/lady with contact information to verify that intent. You can also call CIC at 1-888-242-2100 the call centre and ask them what is expected.

I've read some posts on here and I think a official job offer from the office in Canada, or a official letter showing that you are being transferred to that office combined with your bank account and enquiries into rental property will be good.

I've read posts on here where the sponsor wasn't working and showed bank accounts of money to transfer to Canada and house searches in Canada and they got accepted. My impression is that you're in a better position than that.

Proof of intention means you have a solid plan. I would suggest the following:

1. Evidence showing you talked to people expressing the desire to move back (FB, whatsapp, photos visiting Canada recently, etc).
2. Apartment search info (even if you're not buying/renting yet)
3. Shipping quotation for your belongings
4. Transportation search (e.g. car prices, public transportation fares info, etc)
5. Show bank balance showing you can survive yourself and your wife should you not be able to settle on a new job soon after the move.

Write what you feel about Canada and reasons why you want to move back.

If your wife is an American, the approval should come under 6 months. Be sure to convince CIC that you are ready to move within a year of application submission.
