Hello Everyone,

I need some advice regarding my situation.
I applied for my PR through the OINP International Student Stream (Non-Express Entry) and received my AOR in January 2024. However, my PGWP is set to expire in December 2024.

Should I apply for a BOWP, or would it be better to go for an employer-based work permit?

Thank you in advance for your help!

This is pretty normal. Something AOR comes in few days after biometrics letter. If you didn’t receive anything in couple of weeks , you can call them and ask them to resend you email. However in meantime you can use same application number mentioned on biometrics letter to link your application to GC KEY account online .
Thank you very much!

If you don’t have employer restrictions on your nomination certificate, you can apply for BOWP .

Thank you for your reply.
Actually, I received my COPR portal request. However, when I applied for my PR, my marital status was single, but I got married after receiving my AOR and Pre-Arrival Letter (PAL). I knew I had to inform them, so I did.
I also raised an MP inquiry, and they informed me that since my marital status has changed, IRCC is now assessing my wife's profile. From my end, everything is good to go, but there’s no timeline for that process.
So what could be the best option?
Because when I am trying to apply through IRCC portal it's giving me both the option such as Employer specific WP as well as BOWP both.

That means that portal request they sent you doesn’t actually have any validity now as your application went back to queue for processing and you have to maintain valid status in Canada during this processing time . As I told you earlier, if there is no employer restrictions, you should apply for BOWP . All you need is basic documentation and copy of AOR email which is most important documents. Don’t apply for closed work permit as it is too much of hassle for you and your employer.

Hey

my AR is Dec.2021 and just two weeks ago my eligibility passed and waiting for Security, I sent the Mandamus, based on my experience it does not work for security!
Hey @Amirfarhad can you please share your experience how you got your security started? For me everything is passed and completed according to the gcms notes but only security not started. I need your opinion on this.

Hi everyone. Finally, it is my turn! During this stressful process, I read this forum everyday and it helped me a looooot. Thank you so much! That is why I know how important to share timeline and tips. So, here is mine:

Non-EE PR Application submitted: Nov 16, 2023

BIL and AOR: Feb 20, 2024

Medical request: Mar 12, 2024 (I had one medical done before, I submitted it with the application, but they ignored it somehow. So, don't worry if they request again. Just do another one.)

PAL: never got it (but I had a representative so maybe he got it but didn't forward me, I am not sure)

Final decision notification: Again, my representative never let me know but listen to this: During the process I called IRCC once a week -of course never connected to an agent- but I used the automated phone service, which is a machine telling you the status of your application in a generic way. The last time I called was on Sept 6, for the first time machine didn't say anything and tried to connect me to an agent. Anxiously, I came back to this forum and found out that means your application process is completed.

P1: Sept 10, 2024 (replied in a couple of hours)

P2: Sept 24, 2024 (here I would recommend to take a digital picture in a professional photographer -not in Shoppers or London drugs kinda place. The real professional ones are a bit more expensive but worth it. I didn't know this and got my photo from London drugs, but then the system gave me warning saying "too bright or too dark". I didn't submit and run to a professional photographer. The system accept it as it is immediately)

e-copr: Oct 1, 2024 (I linked the PR card application to my GCKEY next day)-(at this stage, you don't have to wait for the physical card, just go change your SIN, go to your bank, let your HR know, change your health card and driver's license. I did them all in a few days. The other thing is, since you change your SIN, your CRA account with the old SIN will be deactivated. Wait for the deactivation -it takes a couple of weeks. After making sure that you are not able to sign in to your old CRA account, open a new account with your new SIN number. At that stage the system will ask you last year's numbers in your tax assessment, just enter those numbers as is shown in your assessment, and then you will see in the new account, your old stuff are linked automatically)

Final Decision Notification for PR card (GU1): Oct 17, 2024
PR card is mailed Notification (GU2): Oct 18, 2024

PR card in my mailbox: Oct 23, 2024 (and by the way, in the portal, the photo looks still "in review", so don't worry if any info looks "in review")

In PR tracker, the eligibility still shows "not started", so don't worry if it is the case in yours.
Sorry, it is a bit long post, but I want to share the knowledge, especially the stuff I had a hard time finding back then.

Good luck everyone! I hope you all get yours very soon.
