Hello Miss Bee
We applied for PR in our home country. We had a work permit before AOR and came to Canada.
While waiting for the PR we had a baby in Canada, we raised a webform to inform IRCC and sent the birth certificate and Canadian passport copy. We did mention again it when we received portal 1 that we had a baby in Canada.
We just received the ecopr having our kids brought from our home country as dependent but failed to mention the name of our Canadian born child.
Is that normal or a mistake?
Do we need to contact IRCC for that?
Please advise on what to do.
Thank you

I applied my PNP express entery file pn sept 30, 2024. When can i expect my AOR. I would really appreciate any helpful response on this matter. Thankyou.
Last year, the timeline was around 4 months when the estimated time to get PR results was 12-13 months. Now, the estimated processing time has been increased from 13 months to 20 months. That means AOR might take around 6.5 months. I'm just guessing using simple math; there might be lots of other factors as well. Many people who applied in August 2024 are still waiting for their AOR.

If you can do non PNP just do that, It is just ridicilous waiting game with PNP! my application is in progress more than 2 years and each stage takes 2 to 3 times more than other streams.

I applied in Aug 2024 , still no update . No update on my work permit extension even though the time is decreasing for processing times for LMIA exempt work permit no update on that file too both applications were applied in Aug 2024. I feel so depressed cos of the wait time . I feel like giving up

I’m really sorry to hear you’re feeling this way. The waiting period for immigration applications can be incredibly stressful, especially when there’s so much uncertainty involved. It’s completely normal to feel overwhelmed, but you’re not alone in this, and things will move forward, even if it feels like progress is slow.
It’s understandable that the lack of updates on both your PR and work permit applications is causing frustration. Here’s how you can approach this situation and explore options to move forward:
PR Application (August 2024 Submission)
1. Check Application Status Regularly
Ensure you are monitoring the application status through your GCKey or the PR Tracker. Processing times for non-Express Entry PR applications can vary significantly, but delays are not uncommon.
2. Contact IRCC for Updates
• Use the IRCC Web Form to inquire about your application.
• If you’re in Canada, you can call IRCC at 1-888-242-2100 to request more detailed updates.
3. Request GCMS Notes
Global Case Management System (GCMS) notes provide insights into your application’s progress. These notes can clarify which stage your file is at (e.g., eligibility, background checks). The processing time to receive these notes is 30 days.
4. Involve Your Local MP (If in Canada)
Members of Parliament can sometimes assist in expediting long-pending applications. Reach out to your MP’s office for help.

LMIA-Exempt Work Permit Application
1. Processing Times Check
• The processing times for LMIA-exempt work permits are updated regularly. If the current timeline has passed and you still haven’t received an update, consider escalating your inquiry through the web form or by calling IRCC.
2. Maintain Status
Since your application was submitted before your previous permit expired, you’re likely on implied status (now called maintained status), meaning you can continue working under the same conditions as your previous permit.
3. Request an Update
Use the IRCC web form to inquire specifically about your work permit application. Include all relevant details like your UCI, application number, and submission date.

Practical Steps Moving Forward
• Parallel Applications: If your work permit extension delays continue, and you’re eligible, you might consider applying for a bridging open work permit (BOWP) if you meet the criteria (e.g., AOR received for PR).
• Stay Proactive: Revisit your email or account frequently to ensure no requests for additional documents or updates were missed.

Why Delays May Be Happening
• Backlogs: August 2024 applications likely coincide with higher submission volumes due to work permit extensions, study permit renewals, and PR pathways reopening after summer
• Complex Cases: LMIA-exempt permits sometimes undergo more scrutiny, especially if you’ve recently changed employers or roles.
• Internal Processing Issues: IRCC’s internal processes, like background or security checks, may be contributing to delays.

Nothing to worry about. You have valid status in Canada. Keep working and focus on your job and life. This process will be so smooth when you don’t overthink.

Hi @Miss bee , I’m about to submit my Federal application for the PNP non express entry. My current pgwp expires in 5 months time, but I have an option to extend for another 2 years, can I use this current work permit in my application, then update IRCC via webform once I apply for the WP extension. Thanks.

Yes you can . If you get new work permit, you don’t need to update them . They have access to alp your records.

Hi Miss bee, I applied for PR and after that I entered in parental leave for 52 weeks. Some of my acquaintance told me that at last stages of PR processing ircc ask for paystubs. If they ask paystub in my case what will be the solution? Will parental leave in PR processing period affect my application ? I am a PNP applicant for PR. While applying I haven't uploaded any employment records. Is it safe to upload ROE and previous paystubs through webform before they ask.

Hello, can I ask for some advice about my situation?

I finished a 3-year degree at university and then applied for a PGWP. My PGWP was issued on December 29, 2023 and it expires on October 21, 2025. It’s for just 1 year, 9 months, and 22 days - I think it’s shorter because my biometrics will expire on October 22, 2025.

I also applied for the MPNP and got nominated under the Non-Express Entry stream. I submitted my application for PR on November 5, 2024 but my status is still just "Submitted."

I’m worried my Work Permit will run out before I get my PR. If I want to stay and work in Canada longer, I have to extend my Work Permit. Should I wait until I receive AOR and apply for a BOWP or I should extend my PGWP now?

I’ve started drafting my Work Permit extension on the IRCC site, but I saw that I need a document saying “Proof that you Meet the Requirements of the Job Being Offered”. How can I get that if I extend my PGWP now?

Parental leave during your PR processing period will not negatively impact your application, provided it is a legitimate leave sanctioned under employment law. Here’s a breakdown of your situation and possible solutions:

1. Impact of Parental Leave on PR Application
• As a PNP applicant, your nomination likely ties you to a specific employer or job. IRCC may verify if you still meet the program’s requirements, which could include being employed or maintaining the ability to work.
• Being on parental leave is typically seen as temporary and valid, so it should not jeopardize your application. Ensure your leave is well-documented and compliant with your province’s labor laws.

2. Paystub Requests During PR Processing
• IRCC may request paystubs or other proof of employment during the eligibility review. If you are on parental leave, you can explain your situation and provide alternative documents, such as:
• Record of Employment (ROE) indicating your leave status.
• A letter from your employer confirming your job, leave period, and eventual return date.
• Past paystubs to demonstrate consistent employment before the leave.

3. Proactively Submitting Documents
Uploading documents via the webform before IRCC requests them could strengthen your file and avoid delays. Consider submitting the following:
• ROE: Clearly state that you are on approved parental leave.
• Paystubs: Include a few from before your leave to demonstrate employment consistency.
• Employer Letter: A letter confirming your ongoing relationship with the employer, your return date, and your leave status (if possible).

4. Steps You Can Take
• Communicate with Your Employer: Ensure you can obtain the necessary documentation.
• Prepare Explanations: Draft a clear explanation of your parental leave to submit if IRCC asks for clarification.
• Monitor IRCC Communications: Keep an eye on requests in case additional information is needed.
