Hello People,

I have received my COPR and visa stamping on my passport. However I have recently got married now.

I am planning to settle down myself in Canada first and later call my spouse through family class spouse sponsorship visa.
In that Case, Do i need to inform CIC now about my marriage OR Is it ok to directly sponsor my spouse from Canada?

Also, if CIC needs to be informed then what sort of documents they will ask for?

There are many threads that address this question on the forum.

You must return your COPR to the visa office and let them know you have gotten married. You cannot use your COPR to land since it was issued to you when you were single. You must also submit all of the paperwork required to add your spouse to your application including medical and PCC. It will take approximately 3-4 months for this paperwork to be processed and for a new COPR to be issued.

Make sure you do not land on the COPR you have now. If you do this, it's misrepresentation. It will mean you can never sponsor your spouse and you may also have your own PR revoked for failing to declare your spouse.

Thanks Scylla for this quick response.

I will be surely informing CIC about my marriage.
My concern is that since my spouse is not accompanying at this stage. So will CIC still ask for Wife's documents such as medical, pcc etc ?

Yes they will ask even if she is not accompanying you.

Yes, they will. She will be required to have a medical and submit forms/PCCs/documents. Expect about 4 months of additional processing time. You will be required to return your COPR and visa to be re-issued.
