NOC 2173 or 2174?? for FSW IT Professionals

Hi,
I am designated as Software Engineer in an MNC. and they provide reference letter with same designation.
I have majorly worked as a developer in JAVA/J2EE .
Going by my designation I registered my CIC application and Job bank with 2173 NOC Code.
but if i go by my work i most of fall in 2174 NOC (Computer Programmer).
If anybody could help clearing the doubt and do i need to change it in my existing profile and job bank application??

Your NOC is determined by the Roles & Responsibilities and not by the job title(s). Make the concerned changes right away so that it doesn't become a cause for concern post ITA.

Yes. PT wasn't issued on the basis of NOC. You can make these changes before getting an ITA.

Your NOC is determined by the Roles & Responsibilities and not by the job title(s). Make the concerned changes right away so that it doesn't become a cause for concern post ITA.

and one more concern, My HR has denied to write roles and duties in reference letter. what is the alternative to that?

Get your colleagues, manager, senior colleagues to attest a document that you prepare which lists down all the roles & responsibilities and get it notarized. Attach their business card along with that document and include a Letter of Explanation that highlights your HR's refusal to issue such a letter, your attempts to try and furnish as complete an application as possible and requests the VO to assess your application favorably.

Failing that, as the last resort, write a self-declaration of the same and get it notarized, include an LOE to explain why you had to resort to this self-declaration and hope for the best.

thnx for that the latter option seems perfect.
u advised to change NOC asap. can you tell me what will be effects linked to it will my job seeker code change? and i have to make changes at both MYCIC account and job bank.
and one more thing is there any cap to oonp pt??
as i am going by FSW; and if i look back at fsw 2014, it had capfor 1000 applications; is there such thing for oopnp?

No effects in changing NOC before ITA provided such change doesn't impact your program eligibility or your CRS score which doesn't appear to be the case here. Make relevant changes everywhere in your MyCIC and Job Bank profile to maintain consistency and ensuring that the system doesn't automatically deem you ineligible for some reason because of inconsistent reporting of NOCs.

There is no NOC cap for EE under any program.

IF anyone is selected got ITA or got a LMIA job please share your experiences?
becasue the Job is the biggest hurdle. How to get a job in canda. like whats the best approach just apply straight ahead to different jobs or someother things to cater ?
It would help a lot of people here.

I have 360 points till now on NOC 2173. I have more than 3 years Game Developement experience. But getting a job is an issue. Honestly I havent applied but i have read a lot that no one calls back if you are outside canada. If you can give any advice it would be really appreciated. Like the best practices to get noticed and get interview calls and job eventually.

Hi Manchandapulkit,

Did u change your noc. I was also looking for someone who did this after receiving PT and before AOR. I am confused with 2173 being regulated profession and hence want to change to 2174 .please share your experience after change. It helps others who are in same situation

i am standing at 432 and has CLB9---15k funds---married---wife CLB5---1.5 years work in toronto--NOC 2172--june12 applied--NO OOPNP PT yet... please suggest the best thing to do right now rather than just wait and see..

another question-- one of my employer in india does not want to give reference letter they mailed me that they dont want to give one.

i have offer-letter--bank stmnts and a letter that states my last working day.

what should i do can i keep this in my EE profile. if so my points would rise to 458..


please advise..

The only thing you can do is to wait for the ITA cutoff to hit 453 again!

Of course, go ahead and claim that work experience if it was a totally legitimate job! 26 points can make or break your PR dream in the short term.

Try talking to your old colleagues, supervisor, senior managers from that organization to see if you can wrangle a reference letter from them which states whatever CIC needs on a reference letter. Then you can submit that along with their business card and upload it along with an LOE which highlights all efforts undertaken to procure reference letter, cross references that email refusal from your past employer as well if needed and requests the VO to consider your case favorably in the light of these circumstances. That should do it.

If you're unable to get colleagues to do this, as a last resort get a self-declaration for that period of employment which lists down all the facts pertaining to that job in the format that CIC required, get it notarized, upload that with all other supporting documents along with an LOE which highlights all efforts undertaken to procure reference letter, cross references that email refusal from your past employer as well if needed and requests the VO to consider your case favorably in the light of these circumstances. That should do it.

manchandapulkit regarding your concern about changing NOC after PT:

I am on the same boat. I had to change my NOC after I sent my OOPNP application. I sent OO an email an explained to them that I changed my NOC and whether I have to let them know about that change. I have not heard anything back yet.

*Initially my NOC was 2173, but then I realized that NOC 2174 fits me better.
