Hello all,

I have 2 questions and would be happy if you answer.

One of the companies we received the reference letter has changed the responsibilities and insist to only sign this. (they did not want to use what we suggest to write).

Here are the duties:
  • Responsible for planning & coordination of all ATL & BTL and digital
  • communication activities including website management,
  • Coordinating and briefing the advertising, PR, digital, media buying agencies and
  • other 3rd parties,
  • Responsible for in-store communication strategy on POS and the visual
  • merchandising activities,
  • Responsible for product launches and road-show events,
  • Responsible for media buying, PR activities & press monitoring,
  • Responsible for organizing the company events,
  • Following up & reporting the marketing communication budget in a monthly basis
We claim points for NOC 1123 (http://noc.esdc.gc.ca/English/noc/QuickSearch.aspx?ver=16&val65=1123)

Question 1:
Do you think that above duties match NOC 1123?
The email that we ask for advice ( NC-NOC-CNP-GD@hrsdc-rhdcc.gc.ca) does not work anymore.

Question 2:
The company also changed "Brand Specialist" (it was like this in EE) to "Brand & Corporate Communication Specialist" (now it has to be like this in eAPR form). Do you think this would create a problem? Should I add LoE for it?

Thanks in advance.

1/ It does seem to fit NOC1123.
2/ If "Brand & Corporate Communication Specialist" is what's written on your reference letter, then write it that way.
If you choose to upload your contract as additional document, and it mentions "Brand Specialist", add LOE. Doesn't seem to be a problem, as CIC care only about duties, not job titles.

It depends on your specific duties. We don't have info on that to help you more.
But basically, since you're Marketing Manager, chec NOC 0124 and see if it fits better than NOC 1123.
What are your duties as Marketing Manager? Remember, visa officer will focus on duties and not on job title.

It doesn't matter what education background you have for your NOC. It's okay to claim NOC1123 with Masters in Science.
CIC doesn't require you to satisfy employment requirements as stated at the bottom of NOC.

Hi All,

I will appreciate your help with my application

i received my ITA on October 3rd thankfully under FSW.

However, the employer letter that was sent to me the other day does not match any NOC 100% or even 60%. Can you help me choose an NOC suitable for the job description company provided? they are such a toxic company and did not even write the whole job description which could have made it so easy to choose from.

These are job description my previous company wrote:

JOB TITLE : OPERATIONS SUPPORT SUPERVISOR
- Consult throughout the brand to identify and optimize performance.
- Collect information to identify and optimize performance
- Report and investigate key financial information for the operations team
- Develop system, process and financial reports for the Operations team to drive business profitability
- Interface for operations, the link between Ops and Head Office
- Act as key output to operations
- Liaison with Functional department

This job description matches some of 1221 (Adminstrative Officer) and some of 1122 (Professional occupations in business management consulting)

What should i do? Please help me..

Hi everyone! Any one with Brand Management work experience applying for Federal Skilled Express Entry? Please recommend the most suitable NOC for the following qualification/job:
1- Undergraduate: BBA (Hons) Major in Marketing
2 - Postgraduate: MSc Marketing & Strategy
3- Current Job Title: Assistant Brand Manager at an FMCG
Some key job duties/responsibilities include:
1. Project management of new product developments and existing product developments (line extensions)
2. Brand relaunch planning and execution (marketing mix)
3. Leading consumer and market research for strategizing go-to-market plans for the business

Based on research NOC 1123 (Professional occupations in advertising, marketing and public relations) or NOC 0124 (Advertising, marketing and public relationship managers) seem closest but which one is the most accurate? I have 3 years of work experience in Brand Management/Marketing

It pretty much depends on what duties will be included on your reference letter, as it depends on how much responsibility you had in each. That's what will define your NOC.
For instance, do you design go-to-market strategies yourself? Do you sign-off on brand relaunch plans? Do you oversee project management teams for new product developments? If so, then keywords shall be included in the letter to reflect that, which would qualify you for NOC0124.
But based on my knowledge of your field position, NOC1123 would be more suitable, and easier to get the correct duties in the letter and signed by your supervisor.

Your duties are similar to these:

  • Assess characteristics of products or services to be promoted and advise on the advertising needs of an establishmen
  • Gather, research and prepare communications material for internal and external audiences
  • Advise clients on advertising or sales promotion strategies
  • Develop, implement and evaluate communications strategies and programs designed to inform clients, employees and the general public of initiatives and policies of businesses, governments and other organizations
  • Conduct public opinion and attitude surveys to identify the interests and concerns of key groups served by their organization

Thank you for your prompt response. Please find below my answers to your questions in red.
I agree with you 1123 is a closer match to my existing duties and responsibilities as NOC 0124 seem to be more of a senior management position whereby one is expected to manage a team.

My follow up question is that does my supervisor need to sign on the employee reference letter or a sign off by the HR would suffice on company's letter head?
Can I just mention it's for a visa application rather than informing it's for immigration on the reference letter? I am not sure if my current employer will cooperate in the latter case.
If you have a format that is acceptable by IRCC, please share with me?

It pretty much depends on what duties will be included on your reference letter, as it depends on how much responsibility you had in each. That's what will define your NOC.
For instance, do you design go-to-market strategies yourself? No. I facilitate it through research and mostly plan execution of the same together with other cross-functions Do you sign-off on brand relaunch plans? No. But I facilitate preparation of brand relaunch plans and again their execution. Do you oversee project management teams for new product developments? I don't manage a team reporting to me. I manage the networks, for example, for projects and ensure SOPs are being met throughout the innovation funnel of the company. If so, then keywords shall be included in the letter to reflect that, which would qualify you for NOC0124.

Based on what you say, 1123 is a far better choice indeed.
Ideally the letter should be signed by supervisor. What reason you choose to tell him/her really depends on your relationship with him/her. It's up to you to say if it's just for a visa application, but be aware that some people are aware of what these kind of documents are for. But if you can't, yes HR should be fine as well.

For the format, there are various threads about letter formats, but there is no specific format to follow as long as it mentions everything IRCC asks for. Check this:

Hi,I please help me here.

I worked for two offices. The first one for 11 months and current one for 2years &1 month. That makes it 3 years in total.

My employment letter from first job states only 3 points under duties and responsibilities. However, the NOC I claimed for states a total of 7 points.

I cannot claim anymore duties from that list. I am an architect and used 2151 code. There is no other possible NOC code for me also. They have written a line in the NOC code before coming to the duties saying- " An Architect performs some or all of the following duties".

Do you think it will be fine? Are 3 out of 7 points matching considered too less?

3 out of 7 is a bit short. You should aim for at least 1 or 2 more...
But in worst case scenario, you should just use the second job if that gives you enough points, which I assume has the right duties mentioned in the letter.
