Hello guys..

i just want to share my experience in canada. I applied PR under noc 0213 and the processing time took 1 year and 3 months. I have just 7 years experience in c++ and java. I landed with my family on June 9th. After 4 days of rest, I started searching a job through job portals. I received many calls from the day I posted my resume in monster and workopolis. Mainly had calls from consultants and direct companies . I attended one direct company interview and got the job today. I have been a active member of other threads in this forum and would like to say that canada has changed a lot. IT professional is one non-regulated profession and its not difficult to get a job here. however they might not give attractive offer if you dont have canadian experience. But its nice to start from beginning here. We have to prove ourselves in the interview and have references mainly our previous managers and one canadian work reference. try to have one colleaque of yours who is working in canada(onsite) as reference.

C#, java, J2EE, banking , capital markets .. these are the hot selling jobs here.. There might be others, but i dont know. starting Salary comes for a new immigrant from 60K onwards. if its in contract, expect hourly rate of 70.

this forum really helped me a lot in immigrating and getting to know about canada.... So this is my humble contribution ... All credit goes to our Almighty god...

thanks..
thomas

I also belong to this Network field and i have certifications of Mcse and Cisco. so plz share here what is the scope of Networking in Canada?

AsifGhouri and PalNP

There is a good scope of Networking professionals but not as much as programmers like Java and .net have. You can understand the logic, a company needs hardly 1-2 network professionals to control their network, however, they need many programmers for their clients. So there is a huge gap in demand in between them. Hope this helps.

Me too couple of certifications CISCO MCSE MCSA etc , working with live video of highway side on state police project in USA, I have some people (family/relatives and friends from my community), as per what they are doing and worked as new immigrant they earn good money now, few people landed last year and some people 2years ago, if I look person have MCSE MCSA only and earning 75k/year , he started 10months ago with 55k/year bases as new immigrant with 5months contract only by agency, now company hired on own payrole for 75k/year salary (becasue company paid more to agency) contract atleast for 5years right now, he is my relative son and right now what he is doing just playing with VMWARE and Windows 2003 , 2008 servers on EMC clariion CX4 120 series, just 20 VM virtual host, not big firm but handle network of another companies.

hi pal, asif..

I learned one thing when I arrived. Initially I got my resume reviewed by friends in canadian IT industry and they gave many points to modify. And a good cover letter is also important + the certifications will definitely help you to get interview calls. So don`t worry..

only few things you should worry when u come here are stay, transport and health insurance for 3 months. All these are expensive and u have to wisely use money till you get a job.

Hi DJV,
I am from Chennai. Now NOC 0213 has been removed from the list which are declared for PR processing. But if you have job offer you can apply. I did not apply through consultant. I applied on my own. Almost everything you can do it on your own.
