Hello people ,

Is there anyone here who have the same situation as mine. Its been 11 months since I received my AOR but no real update since then . I ordered GCMS notes and it’s says Sponsor eligibility is in secondary review . Anyone who knows the reason for secondary review and how long it takes????

If they haven't approved your sponsor at the very least in 11 months they probably have doubts about the relationship or you've done an awful job of presenting it as genuine. Is your relationship real or a MOC (marriage of convenience)? A secondary review means the case processing officer wasn't convinced about your application and is raising it with a senior immigration officer for review. Expect them to take longer and come back to you with questions.

Our relationship was real. We’ve been couple for 3 years and going 2 years married. we submitted Marriage certificate as well as a proof of genuineness.

That's a long time. Seconardy review generally means there's a concern your sponsor isn't eligible to sponsor you for some reason.

It's hard to guess the possible reasons why your application is in secondary review. Is there anything unusual about your application. Has your sponsor sponsored someone else in the past? Any criminality issues? Are they on social assistance or have they been in the past? How did your sponsor get their PR or citizenship?

I am the sponsor . The only reason I can think is that I stayed 4 months in Philippines due to covid lockdown and cancelled flights .and I only have 22k$ on my NOA because I did not work for 5months as I was in vacation

Ah - got it. Are you a PR or a citizen?

I’m a Permanent resident of Canada

How did you get PR? Are there any chances they think your spouse is an undeclared common law partner?

For the 4 months in the Philippines, when did that happen? In the last 11 months since you submitted the application?

My mom sponsored me that time . But I was single that time . I was in the Philippines in April 2021 up to September 2021

A marriage certificate isn't proof of genuineness. Anyone can get a marriage certificate - the genuineness comes from the totality of facts surrounding the marital relationship of which the certificate is merely one element. 11 months for a sponsorship approval is ridiculous given IRCC has returned to a 12 month timeline on decisions.

There is some concern somewhere with your application - now mind you it was only a case processing officer with a concern, and they have raised it to a senior officer. The senior officer may be okay with everything or they may have additional questions. It will be very difficult to refuse you given you're married for 2 years and have PR, so they need to have a lot of proof that something's up with your relationship.

I think you'll get an ADR probably.

Any chance you lived with your current partner before arriving in Canada and becoming a PR?

I don't think the period when you were in the Philippines is the problem. If this was in 2021, then I think that was before you submitted the sponsorship application, right?

No. We never lived together because we are not couple yet that time . I submitted my application 5 months after I arrived in Canada. I came back September 2021 and Submitted Feb 2022.
