There is a huge difference between having a skilled worker visa (or PR) and having a study permit. HUGE!

i think he is talking about visa type like for student it is S-1 ..so SW-1 is a co-op visa type(student visa with work permit).........SW1 category is FSW category and not a visa type.

And co-op study permits are again very different from normal study permits. You can't compare the two.

And there is still a 6 month wait on the latter. :-)

WHOA! The CIC website is the official government website with the rules and regulations for Canadian Immigration. CIC is still listing the proposal (you have to go in to the news section and go back to late 2012 to find it) and since it was proposed there has been no news to it being rules as will happen on jan 1st. It is STILL a proposal. The page not being updated for three years has nothing to do with being out of date. It has't been updated because the 6 month rule has not changed yet. Simple as that.

If/when the rule changes the page will change too.

Yes that makes sense..
so we still in the air then I guess..

Unless somethin solid comes thru..

I need a like button.

Or is that a sign of spending too much time on Facebook?

any updates about this? less than 2 month to january 2014 and nothing solid yet, i guess they always announce new regulations far earlier than this

You're not the only one. I'm climbing walls as my schedule is classes 4 days a week. I'm a workaholic and bored to tears. I misunderstood the instructions for applying for jobs at campus so missed the train on getting a job this semester. I need a hobby.

Oh, latest news is that CBIE have proposed some pretty damn good amendments to the proposal but that could mean it is being delayed until spring. I hope not.

You could take online classes at Udacity, Coursera or edX to learn some skills that might be useful later when looking for a job. With libraries and the internet available, there's always a way to use your free time in a productive manner.

Is there any news?
