4 QUESTIONS PLEASE:

1. Does it have to be notarized photocopy or just a photocopy?
2. The mailing address looks weird, it's 2 different mailing addresses or what?
3. If we chose to send it by email, can we just scan it and send it by email with the letter they sent us?
4. Now they'll reopen the file in the next month or as soon as they get our response?

Wow. Count me shocked.

For us it was just a photocopy. I think it's dependant upon your country specific requirements though.

That's one address. The slashes are the French words.

wow you're lucky they didn't send the whole package back and ask you to resubmit, but it does not need to be notarized just a regular copy is fine, you can scan and send by email if you choose, make sure you identify yourself in the subject line and i doubt they'll open it as soon as they get it, they're receiving hundreds of emails per day so they'll open it in queue as long as they get it before or by the due date. a better way to send it though might be by registered mail so at least you can track that it's been delivered for certain

I just talked to CIC again since I haven't received my SA either. They said that they are still looking at my file and no decision has been made. They won't send my file back but will contact me once their review is finished. Could be 3 - 4 weeks.

I suggest emailing them or faxing it to them. it'll be quicker than mailing.

The idea was to send them the application right after getting married and thus save the 3 months waiting for the marriage certificate, now we may have to wait a month for response, but we still save 2 months of doing nothing. We are risk takers lol, worst case scenario they would've returned the entire package after two months (we received the marriage certificate a week ago!) and we would'be sent it again with the certificate, if u have nothing to loose there is no reason to be scared lol.

@ayrazar, why r u shocked?
Btw they do that more than often right? i heard about many applicants who didn't get their application returned even without the certificate.

And btw what's this nonesense about the mailing address and the residential address for the applicant? i'm a visitor in Canada and i put exactly the addresses my wife has, i heard about people who got their applications returned because of that.

Did u not include any document in the application? cuz thats exactly what they told us yesterday, i sent them an email and they responded a day after i sent it to them, the agents on the phone don't seem to know what's going on, don't rely on what they say, i recommend to send them an email through the website.

Btw thnx for responding everybody.

Sorry, what do you mean about not including any document in the application? I had every document that they required (and then some!). I don't know what they are doing and investigating. I called 4 times today to talk to someone and 2 times, they didn't even take my UCI number to look at my file and 2 times I was told to wait for 1 month. I'll send an email now.

Hi,
I was just curious. You mean it's possible for CIC to ask for missing dicuments right after you get AOR?
Good thing they never returned your whole application.
Does that mean your processing is back to day one?

Like everything they asked to attach, we didn't attach the certificate so we knew that was gonna happen, if u attached everything then something must be wrong, if u got AOR don't worry too much cuz at least u know the application is there and its not lost or something, so i recommend to send them email and use extremely polite language and you'll be fine, the agents on the phone know nothing about whats really going on, you might as well call Rogers and ask about ur sponsorship application, you'll get pretty much the same answer.

From what i learned it's not very common, usually they just return the application, i've been also told it depends on the officer, I really hope that doesn't mean we r back to day but even if we are, it takes them less than 10 days to assess the sponsor so it's no big deal anyway. As long as the application is there and not lost or something i'll be calm.

All the agents I spoke to today (4 in total), were super rude, unfriendly and non-helpful. They didn't even wanted to look into my file to help me figure out if there was an SA sent out yet or if there's a problem. It seemed like I was calling into a black hole. Pretty funny @ calling in to Rogers. Seemed like it. I did attach all of the requirements, hopefully I will receive my SA today/tomorrow.

If u didn't attach everything they asked for but still got AOR, and it's been more than the time indicated on the website, maybe we r on the same boat, if they don't give u SA within the 62 days maybe they'll ask u for the documents needed, in the website it even says:
If the application is not returned then:
1. AOR
2. Request of missing documents.
3. SA
The people who got SA r people who sent full applications, other people, like me, chose to send the application with a missing documents and took the risk, so there is no point of being upset if u get a late SA because if u think about it it's the same thing, imagine that u waited till u have all documents u need and only then mailed the application, it's pretty much the same.
Good luck my friend, i hope you get the SA and ur application flies overseas, it seems like things overseas go smoother than in Canada lol.

Marriage certificates have to be sent as original copies in English or French, this is specified even on the CIC immigration forms. In our case they asked for a photocopy from a sponsor, but for an original from an applicant, so we sent 2, basically an original and a photocopy of it, yes I know....
Also, I hope you did not use -u- or -r- in supporting letters and on the application forms, cause this would really upset them ;D

They only asked for one photocopy of the marriage certificate, will they ask for the original one in the future?!
And this was our supporting letter for the question about the marriage ceremony:
Yo, listen, the marriage ceremony was the bomb! By the end of the night we ain't got no drinks left yo, u wouldn't believe that sh*t.

Just joking lol, i wrote 10 pages of supporting answers, didn't use formal language but made sure i sound extremely polite, i even wrote at the end that i'm sorry for the informal writing as i'm not a natural english speaker and that i could describe myself best this way.
