Question for those who may know this. I am Canadian sponsoring my American wife outland. I have been working and filing taxes in the US for 17 years and do not have access to an option "C" . If I understand correctly, I can submit my last years (2012) taxes and a letter stating why I have omitted the option "C" form. I am hoping this is right...I understand spousal sponsors don't have to make a certain amount of money to sponsor their spouses so not sure what the big deal is. Am I correct or close on any of this? Please only respond if you really know one way or the other as we are trying to do this thing right the first time and avoid delays and/or lawyer fees. I paid a lawyer an awful lot of money to help with my green card and at my interview, the immigration guy told me it was relatively easy to do yourself and I wasted my money. We are trying to be meticulous on this outland application so we can get home buy mid December of this year. They seem to make it awful tedious for a Canadian guy who just wants to bring his wife home to the best country in the world. :). Thanks in advance for the advice!

Even if the process isn't complete by mid-December...why can't you both go to Canada (she as a `visitor' ;) )?

You can be physically present in Canada while you have an Outland application in process.

To answer your question...yes you can give alternate supporting financial documets as mentioned in the check list, along with a letter of explaination as to why you are not providing the Option c.

We did the same.....added 12 months payslips and bank statments, t4's for the year, NOAs of past 3 years along with the letter and we were fine. :) This is only to make sure that you are not on any sort of social/ govt assistance so its useful to mention that on the letters well.

And it makes sense to do this by ourselves...make use of this forum...as much as you need...you will find help here for even the smallest of questions. :)

Finally...wishing you all the best...hope you have a quick process and a wonderful life ahead! :)

I think this is more of a case by case basis as I did the same as you mentioned above and they sent me back my application stating that it was incomplete and that I MUST include an option C. There is definitely no hard in trying as you may just get through! :D

Yea, I'm pretty sure it's for the last year taxes were filed in Canada (which makes sense) :)
