Does anyone have any experience with applying for an RTD if they don't have a guarantor? I believe there is a form to be filled instead- any idea where to get that and will the process take longer since no guarantor is mentioned?

You do need a guarantor to apply for RTD. Ask your family doctor or lawyer. in case they dont want to sign for you, you have to find a notary public, you pay them, and they sign for you.
