Hello everyone, i just have a tip to share about life after landing. If you are an accountant, endeavour to register for ACCA, they have an agreement with CGA canada. If you can do this before landing, it makes it easier to land a job in your field. Also for everyone, please if you can, start learning the canadian accent. Canadians dont discriminate by race but if they dont like the way you speak there is trouble. Truth is they dont understand us when we use our naija accent so if you can start that now, it will be to your advantage. God bless and i wish you all the best of luck. See you in Manitoba.

Hello Ayayombo,

Na wa o! Canadian accent? well if that is what someone has to do then someone may need to fake it to get work. Is there work? I have read different things about Manitoba. Some people say there is no work while others say it may take a while to get something. What will you say?

Hello DeeBruv,

I will suggest you read the Manitoba immigration website. For now, they have stopped accepting applications from overseas applicants until December. So what you have to do now is wait for what the new application requirements are because am not sure they may change the requirements or introduce new requirements starting from December. The old requirement needed you having a friend or close relatives in Manitoba to sponsor you (lived for one year) do you have one?

@ Ayayombo,

I TOO LIKE U...u want to kill me with laugh... ;D :p, imagine me speaking with an american accent, the canadian accent is even better than the US accent as it is a much clearer version. if u ask me i believe they speak better English in canada. now to accents, the only advice i will give is that our words be pronounced very clearly and correctly, yes accent plays a part, but in my experience of working abroad i believe clarity of pronunciations will take us farther than simply learning how to talk like canadians. i never spoke in a british accent even though i worked as a front desk customer service person, with some oyinbo even asking me if i was from warri because of my first name , heck not even when i took my IELTS speaking test and i got an 8.5 band in speaking. the truth is, far more than accent they will learn to appreciate you if you simply speak clearly and pronounce your words correctly, like instead of saying HOSPITAAAAL in a strong naija accent, you say HOSPITUL in a soft and clear naija accent as oyinbo no like shout...but not HOSPIRRRUL, because u want to form americana... we can also note things like the words they use for stuff that are different from naija words, like we all know instead of INJECTION, they call it SHOT or instead of DRUGS, they call it MEDICATION...stuff like that...just maintain a clear crisp naija educated accent like the one we speak that makes it hard to know what part of the country you come from and you are good to go...

SORRY EVERYONE FOR THE LONG LECTURE... ;D :D

Hello TeeOMISORE,

It is not a bad lecture so I will not say it is boring. I agree with all you said about accents and omo 9ja. what I found interesting in what you said is you differentiating an American and Canadian accent. I have been to Canada and the US, and I really did not see any difference between both accents. they talk the same from what I heard.

yayombo, thank u so much for this info oooo.and I hope all the accountants are taking notes o.
@teeomisore and @maikudi,the canadian accent na just northern american accent.u guys know that americans have diff accents, the most pronunced one na southern american accent....those "country" pple, but I totally agree with @teemiisore on the clarity of our pronunciation.that should be good enuf. make we no go speak 'phonee' confuse ourselves o. :D come mix british, naija and jamo accent togeda in the name of phonetics.loollll. the main thing is just to enunciate properly and use the appropriate dictionn like my sister said. Nothing like 'oya,shebi,as-in,ahn ahn now etc lolllllll. God dey my people.nigerians always aclamatise and blend into foreign enviroments really well, so im sure we'll be aight ;D
PS.....I always listen to one of their radio stations 'cbc winnipeg radio' the frequency is 89.3 You could stream it thru tune-in app. It makes me more in tune with what's going on there and also familiarise myself wt their accent, speak, stuff like that. Anyways guys, take care and as usual, good luck to us all ;D

Yes there is work in manitoba. The reason people find it difficult getting jobs is the canadian accent and the canadian experience. Many people get called for interview but when you get there and they dont understand you, that is it. when you land, please enrol in the, manitoba start programs, it will help you. Also be prepared to enrol in some programmes to improve your chances.

@ DeeBruv,

You need to have a close/Distant relative or a friend in Manitoba who should be willing to sponsor/support you. Kindly go through mpnp online website for further details.

@ Teju,

Congrats on the good news. Your LOA is already in your hands ;D

@ TeeOmisore

Long time. Hope you are okay? I pray that our expectations will not be cut short.
