Tinuade dear,

You are what you call youself, don't forget that.If my story has touched you one way or the other then you will understand that life is not a bed of roses. No matter where you are in this world, there is what we can an adjustment period.Things can not be the same as an immigrant ie in the first one year.

Like Tito has rightly said!you need to have a rethink about this immigration thing and really pray for an head way.You need to be optimist and be positive about things in life, the words of the mouth and confession needs to be watched. We are told in the bible''That nothing shall be impossible/difficult for those who are in christ Jesus, put your trust in God and hope for the best.Don't be going back and forth on this issue except you are not sure of your decision.

Canada for me Ig is a land of milk and honey, and i will till and the earth will yield my increase. Many have succeed ,why won't you succeed irrespective of what people are saying.By the special grace of Gosd,am more than comfortable but we are doing this for our children and nothing more.I earnestly look forward to a bright future in Canada.

I have lived in the UK for 4yrs as a student, with God on my side i never lack.As a student i was changing jobs over and over again.Your transferable skills are what you need right now. Please be focus and never waiver in faith.

Ps 23.The lord is our shepherd there is nothing we shall lack.

Tinuade ,the lord is on your side, strong and mighty.Nice weekend

Ig

people,
we heard a great news at least from Ig and it was quite encouraging considering her long wait. Sometimes i want to forget about the whole of this immigration issue but i dont know if any other persons feel the same way or its just me. The fear/concern for the unknown sometimes makes me wonder if this is truly the way to go.

I feel its more difficult if you are 'relatively' comfortable in nigeria, good house, good job, good schools and some general level of comform around you i mean you can easilly afford a nanny for the kids, a steward if you want, a driver if you so wish and many other things (i dont mean to be proud please) that one can relatively afford here. I lived in UK for about a year for my MSc and i know it was not easy at all.

My question is what are we going to be doing there? (1) working? i learnt professional job does not come easy and that we have to do some warehouse/security/sales assistant and all kinds of menial job before we can get a professional job and considering where we are coming from are we psychologically prepared for this?

(2) Schooling? what course and how easy is it to get admission? for instance i have been trying to apply an MBA having had over 12years working experience but am yet to be able to secure admission into any of the Ontario school why ? GMAT is compulsory and a high score is needed too a criteria i have not been able to meet, besides GMAT, most schools ask for a B+ or at least 75% upward in your last university degrees does it mean anybody with second class lower cannot study in a good school in canada? what about the fees not in anyway cheap

(3) Business? what kind of business can one do? what are the modalities of starting one? is there a market for nigeria goods there? is there enough profit to keep the business going? i need anwers to this and many more. maybe i need to start a new thread so we can all put our ideas on papers. emigrating is just the first step but settling down and being happy there is far important and we have to start thinking now. I know and met a lot of Nigerians who are frustrated in the UK and also cannot return home because of poor planning and poor feasibility studies hence my concern.

I hear its very difficult for doctors to get job in canada so if you are on this thread and you are a doctor please read the thread on 'Doctors how to succeed in canada 'before you continue with the process. Please brothers and sisters let no know mis understand me i am just concerned and i want us to rub minds sometimes we are too engrossed in wanting to leave naija that we dont even pause and ask ourselves if that is the best option for us

I hope to hear from you all

tinuadebola,i tell ya,do what you are led to do,focus on one thing,no di-vision,pls god is able to bless you anywhere, but if u want to come, here, you have to evaluate why you want to do it and choose who you are going to believe, the ones that came to report they were grasshoppers or the ones that brought good news, what u see is what you get.for me,the eventual gains of immigration are worth it for whoever its targetted ,and don't forget this, canada is just an option,a good and legal leg in another prosperous economy,i have learnt never to live without options,i can also work in the Uk,but i decided to come to Canada,so dont look back if you have set your hands to the plough!!
Thanks Captain Tito,my SIN card comes in this week(2nd week),might just have to move to Vancouver as here is a suburb abt 2hrs from Vancouver, but still chilling, hope my licence and medicare records are transfered over there.
thanks

Dear All,

Thanks for the senior here; Like Tito said, everythings lies on the decision in conjuction with the interest of mind towards achieving a goal. Its a not a matter of saying people are relocating to Canada or UN said Canada is the best place to leave on earth, but it depends on individual motives. May it be noted that average Naija are lazy, we pay more attention to unnecessary issues coupled with the environmental primitive ideas within our community. Left to me, its worthy to be in a place where a living is meaningful.
If one thinks his/her certificate would not fetch him/her a standard living, its ideal to look for the alternatives in trade/technical works. And as stated in the thread here, one should not close all the avenues here in Naija, where one can can get one or two changes to support his/her stand pending.
I really appreciates this forum indeed.

Thanks.

I have a suggestion to make. Is it possible for us to set up a spreadsheet to monitor Accra. so that all the Naijas can see Accra peformance at a glance. I need you all response on this. Thanks

All

EMO has a good suggestion as not all of us are on trackitt.com

The issue will be how it is updated and maintained. Another alternative is to encourage everyone here to register on trackitt.com so that we can have a common point of evaluation fro Accra.

Keep the faith my people.

Peace!!

Barsindoo, how yonder now? hope you have settled with the family now and getting on good by HIS grace. How far with your driving licence thing? wishing you Gods mercy and grace, always!
