Thanks. I don't see this as an issue because the link (as parents) to your daughter will be seen from her birth certificate - showing you both are her parents.

Agreed,from looking at the birth certificate, it will be apparent that u are both the parents and u have chosen a different surname for ur child. No cause for alarm.

You may be right. I was only talking with reference to Section 28(1) which states - A person shall forfeit his citizenship if, not being a citizen of Nigeria by birth, he acquires or retains the citizenship of or nationality of a country, other than Nigeria, of which he is not a citizen by birth.

Yes u are correct but most Nigerians are citizens by birth even including those born in foreign countries to Nigerian parents. So this provision is not binding on (I believe) over 95% of Nigerians.

@ evelyn24, No qualms! Just as HAA and others have said, the birth certificate should clarify that.
Your situation is similar to ours. Daughter bears my name as her surname, while wify and I bear my grand father's name as our surname. As you'll notice, we don collect 'ugwu leaves' and to land soon. So, let hubby start 'sharperly'
