I have a question I want to ask. I dont have enough money to carry. I am suppose to carry 20,000 but I have 16,000 after I have paid for accomodation. I have paid for 2 month lodging bill for a furnished 2 bedroom apartment in toronto at the rate of 4300/month already. I want to ask if we are fine with what we have. Can we carry the money in cash. Can the money be in US dollar equivalent. Please advice. Can I tell them I have the whole 20,000 and give explanation if they want to check that I have paid for apartment out of it. Or else should I tell them I have 16,000 with me and give explanation that 2 month accomodation has been paid for already and show them the evidence of payment. What do you suggest I should tell them. Thanks.

I agree 4300 per month is actually on the high side, I will suggest you consult a lot before you make any large payment for any service, I know people who got a 1 bed stay in Ontario and they paid 2400 for a month.

If its possible to get the money back and seek other options please do, unless there is a special catch to it for you.

@TJ2010

How ever way you can, please hold the full amount stated, you can have it in USD and convert to CAD when you land, really wont matter, they may not even ask to see it at the point of entry, but if you are carrying over 10,000 (either as a family or 1 person) you have to declare it at the POE.

You will probably be asked also in Nigeria how much you are carrying, I do not know if your explanation of paying for 2 months rent will work or not as that is not in the guide used by the Entry officers, so better be safe.

My two cents
